Well worth the time and expense.
They don't drive the car for you, they just help you along.
I'll never have another vehicle without adaptive cruise, it's that good and that relaxing.

As I mentioned in my post 98% of the time it works exactly like it's supposed and after having it I wouldn't want to go without it anymore but I try to stay aware of the issue because when a malfunction occurs it's truly a frightening experience.

I do like the fact that it slows down and speeds up automatically, sometimes if forget about it and realize I am doing 10 miles per hour slower than I have it set for. Then I have to get out from behind slowpoke and roll on. LOL!

My 2015 Platinum has had this ACC issue from the beginning. I've probably had 40 or 50 occurrences and 15 to 20 of those were severe with the collision avoidance system being activated and a very scary and hard slam of the brakes. It's amazing I haven't been rear-ended on the freeway. It spent 28 days in the service department and Ford finally said they wouldn't look at it anymore because it was "operating as designed".
Since Ford won't do anything - I took the case to arbitration under the state's Lemon Law statutes to get it replaced. I lost for basically two reasons: 1) He didn't believe me that it was happening. He wanted video evidence and claimed it "...could have been captured by a dash camera...". How do you position a GoPro so it can see what's going on outside the vehicle at the same time that it sees the dash and the fact that I'm not the one slamming on the brakes? Also - it's very intermittent. No way to predict.
That's some high-tech stuff there - so if anyone is going to pursue this - you'd better have some strong video evidence. Witness statements were not enough.
2) I didn't prove that the problem is a safety issue - which is critical in a case like this. He stated that since I kept using the system - that was proof that it wasn't a safety issue. This is an impossible argument to defeat. A complete Catch-22. Using this argument - I would have stopped using the ACC system after the first incident and never turned it on again. No more incidents - nothing to report to Service - nothing for Ford to fix. And no way to build a Lemon Law case. Brilliant. This is a quote from my verdict: "...it does not appear that this defect was likely to cause serious bodily harm or death or the Claimant would have stopped using the adaptive cruise control".
This has been an enlightening experience for me - for sure. The "big blue oval" doesn't back their products and I don't know how you'd ever win a case like this in arbitration - or in the courts because of the catch-22 in the law. Ford clearly knows this because they provided almost no defense in the hearing. They had it won before it started and they knew it. Well done Ford - and I say that with all sincerity. They played it well and know the game a lot better than me.
So if you're thinking of pursuing a case - I don't know what to say. It's going to be tough. Ford's in a defensive posture and at this point they're completely denying that there is a problem with the system. And you'll need to prove that it's a safety concern and you won't be able to do that if you keep using the system. And if you don't use the system - you won't be able to prove that it's a re-occurring problem.
So I'm done. I don't feel comfortable in the truck and don't trust Ford anymore because they don't back their products. They should have done the right thing and they didn't.
So I'm selling my Platinum and moving back to another brand. Too bad too - because it was a nice truck with the exception of the ACC problems. Thankfully there are lots of good options out there in the truck market.

2016 F-150 Lariat with the same Adaptive cruise issue where brakes slam on
I have a 2016 F-150 Lariat and I have had it slam on the brakes multiple times when going 70-75 on the interstate. It happens when I am going on a slight curve and the vehicle beside me is a semi. I have been lucky the 10+ times this has occurred that no one has been tailgating me otherwise there is not a chance we would not have been in an accident. I can just imaging how bad an accident would be if a vehicle/semi ended up rear ending me and pushing me into the truck beside me. Nothing like an expensive safety feature to cause your vehicle to be less safe. This issue needs to be resolved....

No other truck has ACC, along with many other features that only the F-150 has! I predict you will be back to the F-150!
