Part of what I do for a living is split atoms so all of you can enjoy more or less carbon free electricity. I do not have access to all of Ford's technical resources nor do I wish to pay out $3k for access to said resources for a $600 mod to my vehicle. By posting incomplete information on doing this mod (that has been done correctly I might add, kudos to you) and just leaving people wanting for more, do you think less OR MORE people are going to screw it up and be a hazard on the road? Sorry, I wish to improve my truck not brick it and while I do have the brains to complete the mod, unfortunately I lack the technical resources to complete it. I am quite sure that the info Livinitup has put out if used incorrectly could result in " a young kid with just enough tools and resources to put this technology on, and for some reason hurts themselves on the road - or worse - others." my point is that you did it, and did it CORRECTLY, why not put your method out so people do it THE RIGHT WAY.... Anonymously or with a disclaimer.. I am way more worried about some young idiot hurting me or my family or friends because he was texting on the road NOT because he tried to add ACC.

I agree, neither would I.

"do you think less OR MORE people are going to screw it up and be a hazard on the road?"

The system is 100% non-operational without the modules mapped correctly and clear. Furthermore, the radar module will remain in a fault state until IDS has calibrated and cleared the module for use.

The intent of my previous post was to illustrate some perspective as to why it has not been written up yet. If you are in a hurry, you (or others) and I can have a 15 minute phone conversation on the steps you need to take to complete the add on. Don't let the lack of a write-up stop you..

My caution on posting information for everyone to see, and any potential liability behind it should be respected nonetheless.

All said and done, you should see a write-up in the future.

You will see a write up in the future when I complete this upgrade. My parts arrived yesterday, except for my new wheel - which I need for the upgrade because it has the ACC buttons.

Bottom line is that posting the information is consumed at the risk of the consumer. This is a very basic principal. Instructions to put together anything are ALL assumed to place risk on the consumer, unless otherwise stated. This mod is no different or more "dangerous" than most other mods... I do not know why EBM thinks there is a "moral high ground" here, there isn't, but if he doesn't want to write it up, that of course is up to him.

I'll happily post the step by step and turn this into a how-to once I get it done.

All that said, I am greatly appreciative EBM took the time to do the mod and list the parts!!

Looks just like the pile I've got sitting on my workbench......except I'm still waiting for the dash trim piece to mount the HUD.

Didn't you think the sticker on the CCM bracket was a little funny?

"Majority USA content".

LOL, it's a stamped metal bracket. What could be content from somewhere else if it's stamped in USA?

Maybe the paint?

I ended up getting the CCM from Rock Auto vice Ford. It would have been 960 CAD plus tax from a Canadian dealer, over 500 CAD plus shipping, duties and taxes from a US dealer, but Rock Auto actually had the motorcraft service CCM listed and it came out to just over 400 CAD plus 10 bucks shipping.

Have you been talking to livnitup about the values needed in Forscan?

He sniffed them out for me, but I haven't tried them yet. IT will likely be a while before I get to try them as it's gone cold again here and I'm too old to work outside in the cold.

I also assume you have IDS/VCMII to do the calibration? Or are you planning to have a local dealer calibrate for you?

I have not reached out to Livinitup yet... My wheel is on backorder until next month - so it will be awhile until I can get started.

Looking at what arrived, I still need a couple of parts. I sent off an email to my supplier today to see when they will be in.

As for IDS, I have a friend who has the tool - I will just have to supply him with what needs to be changed. This is the only complete unknown to me at this point.

As soon as my wheel and the rest of the parts come in, I will be getting to this. My APA is next on the list - I am just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit!

Absolutely!!

I'm about a month out. As soon as I'm ready, I'll give you a shout.

The next hurdle for mods is cutting the damn holes in my truck for APA. I am not worried about the holes, I am more concerned with the locator channels - there is very little excess room to play with and they have to be in the perfect spot so that the bezel will sit flush.

Glad others are stepping into this mod too. I wonder if Ford knows what's going on with the strange part orders. Lol.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you guys get stuck along the way.

Except for the calibration, I'm going to attempt to enable ACC via FORScan alone.

Mostly because the majority of people that may follow won't have access to IDS/VCMII other than paying their local dealership to calibrate the CCM.

I think it's "doable" from what I've seen and discussions/help with/from Livnitup.

IDS is always available as a fallback position to load a complete asbuilt if needed.
