The Ford IDS (Integrated Diagnostic System) is a laptop based scan tool. It is the current scan tool for 1996 to present Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.

IDS first started in 1996 using a vehicle communication interface or module called the VCM.

It was built by Teradyne and was later serviced by Snap-on.

Ford has 2 different interfaces, the VCM which is the factory scan tool from 1996 thru 2014.

However, the VCM has been discontinued for over 3 years.

The VCM2 has capability for the newer Can systems on newer cars.

Either scan tool requires a software license to operate the IDS software program. Each laptop requires a license.
Ford sells the license for 1 year for $8
49.00
IDS is the software, the VCMII is the hardware interface to the vehicle.

Basically, OEM service dept level stuff. Not cheap to buy.

Knock off's are out there, but you're taking your chances on it working or getting ripped off.

Nope.

You need IDS and the VCMII in order to initiate the calibration of the CCM.

Or you can pay a dealer to do it.

As far as I know, not a function Forscan has.

There is a guy on a Raptor forum that added ambient lighting to his 2014 total OEM. Quite the process but he got into the research problem solving and satisfaction of completing the job.
Dude you are so wrong. have you ever used ACC? I thought it was a hokey add on until I used it in my jeep overland. It's easily my favorite feature. You can literally just cruise on busy freeways, the systems are incredible. I love the braking and when you get behind someone it's as if they are towing you.

Frankly, why do you care so much about what people spend money on?

Is there a way to adjust the radar to put you closer (to the car in front of you) before the auto cruise slows you down?
my jeep has 3 different modes for how close you want to get. The closest one is actually pretty darn close to the vehicle so i never have an issue in traffic.

I'd love it on my truck, but probably too scared to go through this project, major kudos to the OP for taking it on!

I haven't decided if I want to do a write-up or not. If you don't have access to all the appropriate software and service procedures, you could potentially affect the safety of other drivers around you. When you're ready, you can PM me and we can go over a few things.

I will put together a parts list.

Technically you could use FORScan for the entire thing, but you would need ALOT of hexadecimal knowledge. There were several modules that were not part of your standard As-built file download. That's where IDS came into play. Had I not been able to download the AB data into each module as a baseline, this might not have happened.

I absolutely love it. I drove 20-30 miles after work in traffic. What a fantastic feature to have living in a geographically widespread state when driving long distances in congested roads.
