Adaptive Cruise Control *Added*
I may have to use the dealer ... and my fear is that they will have no idea what they are supposed to do.
I will have to use the dealer as well...however I am not worried about them not knowing what to do (it is written in the service manual exactly what they need to do so they will just follow that). What I'm worried about is the confusion that will develop when they wonder why it has all the parts and settings of a truck which came with adaptive cruise control, but adaptive cruise control isn't listed as an option with the VIN...
I have not found that to be a problem ie. when I added cellular remote start. When I added CRS though, I actually took a print out of the IDS instructions as the techs at the dealership were lost.
Regarding the Service manual, my understanding is that they are VIN specific. Does anyone know whether the ACA would be in the SM I'd buy for my truck?

Where the questions may come up is why you ask for a C-CM alignment, if they even care.

Where the vin comes in is on the motorcraft site where they also call up TSB's, recalls, etc and the year of your vehicle.
Even so it would still have to be hex coded to put the vin in the ccm or the truck is going to throw a calibration error code and disable the adaptive cruise.
Thats why i used forscan. Once i had the vin converted to hex, i could manually enter it, forscan would figure out the checksum and write the line. Its just easier than drilling into ids and doing it.
Some modules hold the vin, some dont. The ccm does so you need to enter the vin for your truck so it can talk to your system.
The rest is smoke, mirrors and black magic.....
