In my mind I re-created the steps from the service tech. The only thing he did that I didn't do was fasten his seat belt. I got back in the truck, hooked up seat belt and it works like a champ.

Thank you. Seat belt. Any way to use Forscan to disable that requirement?

What a concept. Your seat belt has to be for things to function properly.

Wasnt a debate about what should be, just asking if it can be.

I tried on my 2015 (but a considering factor may be that it didn't have it installed in the factory) and found my ACC works with or without the seat belt

My first car was a 74 Toyota Celica - You had to put on the seat belt to start the car, no seat belt = No start

Interesting. I'll try it on my retrofit ACC truck as well, could be something in the programming that we never bothered to mess with -- that the factory trucks had.

I wonder if it has anything to do with turning off the seatbelt minder? (probably not, but that's the only other difference I can think of)

I still don't get why you'd want to be on cruise control without a seatbelt on. Or driving more than a crawl. Seatbelts are awesome.

I tried mine just to test their findings, but I agree with the seat belt statement. I have forgotten to wear it twice in the past five years because I got in a hurry. As fate would have it, BOTH times I was spotted by the Highway Patrol & ticketed
The first car I spoke of was before seat belts were required though, the car even had "LEADED FUEL ONLY" stamped under the gauge lol

I have a 2017 with acc and the seatbelt minder turned off and it appears that acc works without the seatbelt buckled. Of course I don’t recommend you drive without your seatbelt.

Interesting points.

Once again i'll mention that this isnt about what should or shouldnt be done. Why am i allowed to use normal cruise control without a belt, but acc requires it? There should be a way to manipulate these parameters, no?

Tried it last night, ACC works fine on my retrofit. I do have seatbelt minder off, and I turned it off via Forscan. I don't think it matters which way you turn it off.

If you're really interested in this, I recommend you look at the programming we do to retrofit ACC, and compare to your as-built in those modules. Livnitup might know, but he should be focused on that 2018 module right now.
