For example... in drag racing, your 60 foot time is usually an indicator of how much torque you are producing and the proper application of said torque.
your speed at the end of the 1/4 mile is usually an indication of how much horsepower you are bringing.
if two vehicles have identical 1/4 mile times, and one was going faster at the finish line, that means he was putting out more HP... the other guy probably did a better job of applying his torque upon takeoff

I finally got my truck back into the dealer to fix a broken tailgate step handle and asked them to turn off the "Enhanced Engine Sound". They looked at me like I was crazy and said it wasn't possible to do that. Once I showed them the IDS screenshot in this thread, they quickly went in and disabled it for me, free of charge.
I love the sound (or lack thereof) in my cab now!
