Default Access - Tool Box - Tonneau Cover

Here are some pics of my new roll-up Access Tool Box Tonneau Cover.

It is somewhat of an engineering marvel. Excellent and tight tolerances. I like it. I've had the Extang covers before and the Access works much better. I like the adjusting feature and the latching system at the rear. I like that I can roll it up by myself.

The tailgate fit is perfect. The front fabric brace fit is also perfect. Good engineering all around.

I only have one complaint, I have a 19" inch tool box and it's really made for a 20". It leaves a 1" gap at the front of the box. I will have to fabricate something to fill this gap. I wish I had known this before I applied the stick-on weather stripping at the front.

More pics of the insides..........

As you can see this is a quality piece of kit (as my Brit buds say). Well designed and operator friendly. My neighbors looked at it closed and thought it was a hard cover. It appears so neat and tight that it was a surprise to them to be a fabric cover.

You cannot beat Access for a soft rollup that works with a toolbox!

I got it from Northern Tools. It was on sale for around $280.

It is made by Better Built. You can get the same box under many different names. All made by Better Built. It really is a very light gauge aluminum. It's really too thin and light for heavy/work use. It works fine for me though. I had to add some extra weather stripping around the lid to keep it dry going through power car washes.

The paint job on it looks surprisingly good for a cheaper box.

I should add that the box is only 19" and the cover is made for a ~20" box. Thus I had a ~1" gap between the box and the front of the bed.

I simply made a cedar (wood) one-by strip and screwed it to the front of the box and rattle canned it black. Works very well and not even noticeable. Fills the gap nicely. Access supplies you with a huge soft rubber weather strip that goes between the front of the bed and the tool box.

Thought I should give an UPDATE.

It's been just about a year with the Access cover. No problems. Works same today as when I installed it.

Here is a good video that explains how it works. Great product.

Oh, and an update on the tool box. My original box developed a warped lid. Northern Tools replaced the box (actually gave me a refund) no questions asked. I chose a flat black box this time with the upgraded/improved latching system. The lid on the new one is much stiffer. I thought the flat black finish would look better on my black truck. But looking back on these pictures, I wish I had stuck with the gloss black. They really do a great job on the shiny black.

I have an Access rollup cover for the entire length of my 5.5ft bed but I just ordered a Weatherguard toolbox to go in front of it. Can i purchase a front bar that will seal up good to the toolbox? If so I need to get one of those and then i'll take it somewhere to have the side bars cut down and then the fabric cut and sown back so that it'll fit with this new toolbox.

See post #4 above and contact Access directly. They are a vendor on this forum.

Best of luck.
