Default Access Lorado / Truxedo LoPro

I read through a couple of threads on these covers and how they work with the electric gate release on the 2015 Lariat. But I wonder if I can solicit some more input. I had an Access Lorado on my last truck for 10 years, so I know about the quality. I'm sure the Truxedo is similar quality.

I called both companies today to ask about the gate release.

At Access, I was told that their covers do not interfere with gate release because the back rail of the cover does not come in contact with the gate but rather stays a fraction of an inch above. I asked if that meant water could get through and was told that "some water always gets through". Not a soothing answer, but I can easily see how the cover would allow the gate to open and close normally.

Truxedo, however, said that their cover works with the electric release provided that I close the gate before closing the cover. They claim to have a water seal along the top of the gate which is a good thing, but if I have to open the cover every time I close the gate it's a showstopper.

Any input here? If you have one of these covers with the electric gate release, are you able to open and close the gate without having to do anything else with the cover?

Thanks.

I had a truxedo lo pro on my 13 and just ordered one for my 15. I will be getting the cover on Thursday and will let you know how it works. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

As long as you don't have fitment related issues with one or another. They both are top quality brands and like you've had with the access. You'll be happy with their performance either way. The only thing I can add, is Truxedo has top notch customer service. I've had the same LoPro QT on my last 3 trucks (roughly 9 years) and have needed to replace a few things over the years. Sun, wind, rain, snow and all beat the crap out of stuff, especially if your truck is always outside. But when I needed a replacement part, they sent me new items. Heck, I figured I would need to pay for things, but they sent them on their dime.

Default Access Lorado / Truxedo LoPro

I'm glad to see some people actually have the Truxedo Lo Pro, in the post asking about which cover people had, seemed none had this one. Was wondering how it worked out for people!

Yeah! Which cover is that? The LoPro QT?

And does your electric tailgate open and close normally?

Thanks!

Thanks. The good folks at Truxedo still tell me that the gate needs to close before the cover in order for the release to work normally. I don't want to open the cover every time I open/close the gate.

Honestly as long as the cover isn't actually resting on the top of the tailgate (neither Access or Truxedo do) I don't see any reason they would cause an issue with the power gate.

Thank you for choosing us before.

We actually made a video just about this topic:

As for the issue of water getting into the bed, our tonneaus are sealed on all four sides and are designed to keep the weather out when installed correctly, like with the truck in the video.

I have a Limited Cover on my 2004 F-150, and my bed stays nice and dry thanks to the cover's seal and the TRAILSEAL Tailgate Gasket I installed.

I hope you'll consider our cover for your next truck. If you want to buy direct from us through our online store, type F150FORUM in the promo code box at checkout and we'll include a little something extra for you for being a forum member.
