Default AC Has Developed Funky Musty Smell

Hey bros. I have a SuperCab with about 13000 miles. I've noticed recently that the AC has developed a musty funky smell. It doesn't smell like a dead mouse...I don't think. It is not a coolant smell either. My truck sits closed up for days at a time. Is there anything I can easily check or do? Would this be a warranty check item? Thanks Lou.

Ford must be pretty good at this - the Fusion since the redesign in '13 has the same problem - almost every time you turn the AC on - they've never found or owned up to any issue.

Check the drain in the A/C unit. Make sure it is clear. If it's plugged that could cause a musty odor. True for any car/truck with A/C.

Ugh! My 2011 F150 did the same thing. Never thought to check the drain though. Where is it on the newer truck?

the smell is caused by mold, mildew and or bacteria on the evaporator coil. Its called dirty sock smell in home ac systems. There are commercial products to clean the coil with, but even the TSB ford has on it, is only a temp cleaning fix.
