Dont get snippy, chief.

First, you asked about Bilstein 5100 front coilovers, which don't exist. Presumably, you want to know what you've purchased is ride-height adjustable struts. Those aren't anything close to coilovers.
Second, you're talking about front suspension settings as it applies to towing and sag. Need more info here.
Third, you mention you don't want to swap front springs multiple times, which is additional evidence that you're conflating struts and coilovers. What springs do you mean?

Lastly, I asked what your goal is, and gave you my $0.02 as someone who actually has changed suspension for improved ride quality, towing performance, and tire clearance, and you still haven't stated what it is you want to do.

I'd be happy to help, but first I want to be sure you know what you're asking and have some idea of what you want. So far... I'm not, and I don't.

I received your PM. It was a link to this page:

From what I can gather, you're thinking that because S3M put Bils 5100s on their "coilover leveling kits" page... that makes them coilovers? How do I break this to you... remember Sesame Street? Does that screen shot remind you of anything? "One of these things is not like the other..."

That confusion aside, I've asked a few times in a few ways for you to state your goal, and you haven't. Any road will get you where you're going if you don't know where that is, so just follow your instincts, I guess. I don't know what to tell you.

Good luck.

IMO what we have in the front ARE coilovers. Moreover when someone talks struts I think McPherson struts that are load bearing AND locating pieces of the suspension, but that's another discussion. Are stock or 5100 threaded height adjustable shocks? No. Can you put aftermarket springs on them? Yes. If you differentiate "coilovers" and height adjustable shocks by one being threaded and another having snap ring collars, that's arguing semantics as they both serve the same purpose.

Generally speaking, coilovers allow height adjustability when installed. They often also allow adjustment spring pre-load, damping and rebound. Bilstein 5100 leveling struts have none of these features. I've installed coilovers on previous vehicles, and I have a set of 5100 struts sitting in the boxes until the day I feel like tackling that project. Semantics or otherwise, it's the least of the problems here. As a professor of mine used to say, "Your opinion, while interesting, is irrelevant."

You know everything so there is no point in going further and why I deleted, it's a waste of time space and energy. Go bother someone else.

The first thing I posted in this thread is a question. I still don't have the foggiest idea what the answer is.
