Hey guys- this thread is kinda disturbing; I test drove a lariat sport with a hefty window sticker of $57k; in efforts to get the price more manageable, I custom ordered what appeared to be very similar, 4x4 lariat sport 501a w nav, Sony , 20" n twin moon roof... When I ordered it, I was very specific with my salesman that I wanted all the cosmetic features of the loaded lariat I had just driven, minus the extra towing and off road options, power steps, tailgate step, 8,000 camera system... Things I emphasized were the nav, Sony, blk lariat sport appearance AND orange trimmed upgraded headlights...

Well, reading this thread, it appears my 501a package is NOT getting me these headlights... Am I correct in assuming there's only (2) headlight options; the LED lights with orange surround light OR the simple generic halogen?

I was very specific in my purchase order that I wanted the orange accented headlights, and was assured by the salesman they were included. Is it possible there is a third intermediate option that puts the standard halogens with the orange rimmed lighting?

That's correct, there's standard headlamps and LED headlamps, which include the surrounding light ring. If you didn't get 502A you won't get the LED headlamps.

That's my understanding as well, and 'confirmed' via the Ford website's online chat. The Lariat w/ the 502a is the minimum trim/package combo to get the LED headlights. When I asked why the LED headlights were only available with the 502a package, the chat rep said 'that's a luxury feature only available with the luxury (502a) package'. I told her that having good headlights is more of a necessity than a luxury, and she said she would 'pass along that information'.

It's not that the normal headlights aren't *good* - they're almost purely a cosmetic improvement (well, aside from bulb replacement, etc.) They're going to meet every lighting and safety requirement out there. The LED ones just look super snazzy, so it is indeed a luxury feature.

It just seems crazy to me, that in this day n age with even Toyota Corolla's coming with cool looking headlights, a $50,000 truck has old-school , boring halogens. Then to consider them a luxury item, meanwhile you can equip the truck with your own personalized satellite view from 39 different angles orbiting the earth, seems a bit out of skew to me, LOL. I doike the look of the aftermarkets with the blacked out background though, just $1850 is a lot for headlights after paying so much already!

I absolutely agree, but with what I paid for my Lariat 501A with a few things added vs. the 502A package, I am still glad with my decision. The additional items are a huge rip off. But as long as your have an uncountable number of suckers buying these things, then Ford might as well stick to this pricing system.

Oh if the majority of consumers were more disciplined. But it is the other way around. And the companies just cash in on such easy prey.

As for me, Ford can stick their overpriced 502A package up their...

Why do you care so much about what other people spend their money on? That statement is true for everything that is a luxury item. If you like it and you can afford it, buy it, enjoy it, and move on. If you don't feel that it's worth the money to you, then don't!
