Mine does it. Sounds just like my old truck that had an Airaid intake, so I don't mind it at all.

I think that's my problem with it, it sounds like an old truck. I used to ride in an old econoline when I was kid...it had the old 4.9 Windsor. It made that same whistle. I've never heard it in any other vehicle I've driven and I hate the fact that a modern DOHC V8 sounds just like a 1980's push rod V8 that has its roots in the 1960's. It just doesn't sound good. If I wanted to hear whistling, I would've bought the EcoBoost.

I have the 5.0 and don't hear it...are the windows up or down when you hear it? something must be loose in your intake. Check the airbox, plastic piping and clamps.

Keep in mind not everybody is tuned into higher frequencies. As you age your ability to hear higher pitch frequencies diminishes. Also some people have moderate hearing loss.
My point is that a lot of these 5.0's might have the whistle, but only some people actually hear it.

I dont understand how everybody is saying the actual engine is whistling. What part of the engine is whistling where is that air coming from?

It's got to be the intake, it doesn't make sense to me that it would be anything else.

Well...I think engine is used as a general term. It most likely is something do with the intake, but it may also be a leak between the plenum/TB.

It very well might be that this sound is normal and everyone's perception is a little different. For me...I can't stand the sound.

Mine whistles at cruising speeds, never really listened at WOT. Very annoying. Definitely coming from my TB. I originally noticed it when I installed a CAI. Thought the CAI was causing it, but it was actually just amplifying it. Sold the CAI and it's still happening.

From looking into it, it appears to be a problem that has been happening for a while now on many of the previous 5.0 TB's.

Mine has it also. I notice it most when going up hill and it downshifts to about 2-3k rpm. Not sure what it is, and I know if I bring it in the retards at my dealership will send me home having done nothing to fix the problem, and most likely will add a complimentary door ding.

Now we are talking. I haven't really been able to zero in on it. Do you think its escaping air or just the air moving through the TB? I only started hearing it after recently cleaning the TB
