5.0 V8 engine verses the 3.5 eco boost?

it's funny, you're gonna hear people say the 3.5eco is faster, then the next breathe, the 5.0 is about the same. Next person says the 3.5eco gets 19mpg for the life of the truck and the next guy says his can't get over 17mpg at any point. Then 2.7 guy says his is king. You can do math or you can drive them all similarly geared and see what works for you. I have a 3:55 5.0 and think it lacks down low. Not just down low but every time it's in a steady state cruise it feels weak when you apply pedal. There's some shenanigans going on in the transmission programming. I'm sure of it. Truck seems held back around 2k rpms and under. That's right where it sits 90% of the time you're driving it steady state cruising. 1 example, dead stop, floor it and barely a chirp and some skipping. Try that at 10mph and see what happens. It'll flat spin the tires through 2nd. You can chalk that up to traction control or whatever, I call it shens in the trans programming. What it comes down to is variables. You drive the trucks you have available and come tell us. I've been reading for weeks after buying mine and still get baffled at what I read.

Looking to purchase a New 2015 F150 can,t decide between the 5.0 engine or the 3.5 eco boost.I am kind of old school so leaning towards the 5.0.Is the 3.5 eco boost that much better for towing 11,000 lbs verses the 5.0?How are the real world gas mileage numbers between the two?How about the 3.73 gears verses the 3.55?Thanks

I definitely think the 3.5 is faster 0-60.

Dog? eh wouldn't go that far. I test drove both (granted 2012's) and didn't like the turbo lag so went with the 5.0. Now my dad has a stock 2015 3.5 and yeah I can say its on par with my properly tuned 5.0. (and yes I know a tuned EB will eat my breakfast).
Dog? nah I wouldn't say that. I would just call it a kick *** naturally aspirated v8.

I went to the dealer with the intention of buying a 5.0, but the 'lag' is exactly what put me in a 3.5EB. They're both good engines but the Ecoboost motors feel like a dog trying to get off its chain, and the 5.0 felt like an older dog that could perform if it had to, but you really had to put your boot in his *** first.
