My real world MPG's withe the eco boost are not living up to expectations. 17 on Hgwy thus far. (Doing 80) I've switched to 91 octane to see if that is going to make any difference on MPGS.

Sure is fun to drive though.

Are they offering good deals on the old 2015's? Depending on what options you want paying more for a 2016 might be smarter..

I have the 5L with 3.55 and I'm happy with my choice most of the time. Still wonder if the 3.5 or 2.7 might of been better gas mileage wise but can't really complain about what the 5 gets as long as I keep the speed down but this applies even more to the EB engines from what I have read.

I test drove the 5.0 when I first was buying. Then I drove the 3.5 and ended up buying a 2.7. The 5.0 was dog IMO.

This. The EcoBoost is a torque monster. I'm not 'unhappy' with my mpg, but thought it would be better. 18.9 for the life of my truck. (3.5L EB 3.55 gear 4x4 SCrew Lariat, 502a, max tow, 36gal tank)

80 mph is the killer there. I see a marked difference just between setting my cruise control at 68 vs 73 mph. Wind drag comes into play at these speeds, I think, in addition to just the few more rpm's. It really does make a difference in mpg, what your mph is. If you can leave earlier, or arrive later, you'll save money in gas. If you're gonna drive 80, fahgetaboutit.

I am trading in my 2006 ford f150 super crew with the 5.4 triton so any gas mileage improvement above 15 mpg,s is a blessing

Let me get this right.....
Old man Light on the gas pedal. ecoboost win better mpg
old man used to v8 power. ecoboost win torque lower rpm
old man hates honda fart can ecoboost win left bro bro in the dust
and strange music from car
old man wants a quiet truck ecoboost win quiet almost to a fault
old man wants durrability ecoboost tie v8 coyote
old man wants litte kid from ecoboost win
the street to be like nice ecoboost!

want to buy a fancy exhaust and get the v8 sounding like that hotrod you never had? v8 coyote

still wondering how the 3.5 ecoboost didn't impress you... Are you sure you didnt drive the 3.7?

Dog? eh wouldn't go that far. I test drove both (granted 2012's) and didn't like the turbo lag so went with the 5.0. Now my dad has a stock 2015 3.5 and yeah I can say its on par with my properly tuned 5.0. (and yes I know a tuned EB will eat my breakfast).

Dog? nah I wouldn't say that. I would just call it a kick *** naturally aspirated v8.

I had a 3.5 EB in my work truck and loved it. I now have a 5.0 in my personal truck and love it. Between the two you can't go wrong. The EB makes massive torque off idle, while the 5.0 makes good top end power. Good luck with your decision.
