if your main goal is towing get the ecoboost.

I am more concerned about all of the hype of the eco boost engines. Is it that much better than the 5.0 engine with regards to towing and gas mileage?I have owned ford trucks for 35 plus years and it seems to me the 5.0 engine is tried and true.

Thanks for that information. How about dependability? That would be my major concern between the 2 engines.

Both have only been available in the F150 for about 5 years. In that time they seem about equal.
