I just ordered the Magnaflow 12249 after reading this thread and listening to the sound clips. Thanks for the great info!

Now I need to find a good tip. Im considering the Red Tail dual tip.... also because of this thread!

After a couple thousand miles I've noticed the decibels have gone up, just a little, still not obnoxious though.

I just ordered a Stainless Works dual mid-side exit cat back exhaust today. I'll post pics and audio once I get it installed.

I had my Magnaflow 12249 installed this morning and I'm getting a significant amount of drone. I didn't remove the resonator, just replaced the muffler. It's almost to the point where I'm considering going back to the stock muffler. Anything between idle and 2000 rpms and the drone is obnoxious. I'm going to give it a week or so to see if it grows on me. Hopefully it does.

Not sure why you have drone if you only replaced the muffler with a 12249, I have the same one and no drone at all and none when pulling a trailer. Your the first I've heard of to report drone with just a 12249 install. Many others here are running the same setup and love it.

I know, right? I figured this mod was a no brainer.

I can't see them messing up the install? I'm assuming the muffler isn't directional?

I don't think it is directional. I had the 12249 and didn't care for the drone either. Took it out after about 3 weeks. Maybe I'm just getting old. Stock sounds good enough for me.

I just recently installed a Magnaflow 12198 on mine. Sounds awesome during start up and when i step on the gas. Not too loud. But i notice that my rpm's are up a little. When i accelerate my rpm is slightly higher than before. Maybe around 200 rpm more. Is that normal?

It may depend on the year of the truck. I saw a YouTube video about how the 2017 model has a smaller resonator than previous years, making the 2017 stock exhaust slightly louder.

I have a Borla ATAK cat-back on my 2012. It has been on since day 1, and not a bit of rust from our salt-laden winters in upstate NY. I"ll be putting the same system on my 2018 when it arrives. The sound is loud and a head turner.
