Default Rear defrost issue

This morning there was a pretty good frost on my truck. I hit the rear defroster and the two sides defrosted quickly like normal but the center sliding glass never did defrost. Could there be a loose connection somewhere that I need to look for. This may be the first time I have actually used my rear defroster so I can't say for sure that it ever worked right.

Oh no.. not another cold weather issue with the new F150. Ok, I had a similar issue with my previous truck. Do you have the center sliding window? If so, there should be two little metal tabs/plated glass on the inside on the center moving window that touch the main glass when closed. This is how the current is transferred. First thing to do is check to see where they mate together, if they are dirty. If clean, next thing to do is check to see if they are strong contact between the two surfaces. Third thing would be to check the defrost lines in the window to make sure none are scratched (in the past they could get scratched and not transfer current). Sometimes even opening and closing a couple times and making sure its firmly closed will fix the issue.

Hope this helps.

I see that my forum search skills suck because I did a search before I posted this. I will check those connections after work today and see if they need cleaned. I bet my sliding rear window hasn't been opened more than 3 times since I have had my truck.

Isn't your searching skill that sucks, the search on here sucks.. Use Google instead.

Cycle the window a few times to see if that helps.

I'm "the guy" from 2 posts up. Haha. My window had been opened and closed probably hundreds of times. Still functions fine. Just wasn't heating. Like I said in the other thread, I didn't get to talk to the tech, but I was informed that the whole rear window needs replaced. I'll follow up with more details on the other thread.

That sucks if thats what it takes to fix it. I guess I will stop by the dealer the next morning that it is frosty here and show it to them so they can get it on the books.

I would just take a pic, unless you like the lobby at your dealership. I didn't have to, so apparently it was evident to the tech that it wasn't working.

I am another guy who had this issue of the outside parts of the window working and the inside not. It would open and close fine just not heat. They only had to replace the center glass, not the entire back window. Took them about 30 min to replace. Works perfectly now!
