I'm not defending Ford here but I dropped some blocks down onto my bedlinered tacoma (cornering) and they went through the bedliner and bed.

Aluminum is more expensive than sheet metal. And how is the bed "designed" poorly?

Nothing a little caulk and bed liner paint won't fix. It is after all the bed of a truck

Nah, it's a free drain hole.

I keep bungees, ratchet straps, and a 2x board to fit the bed divider slots in my truck to avoid stuff like this.
