I have a Line-X bedliner but doubt it would protect against this kind of damage. What I came away with is I will use a 2x8 against the front of the bed to protect it (and secure my loads).
If properly applied LineX would have most likely prevented the holes/tearing into the bed. It's an amazing product and increases strength of items about 7 times. Watch some of the videos testing the product on Youtube. It really will protect your truck bed from exactly what happened to the OP's truck IMO.

Many of the video's ARE NOT produced by LineX but rather various companies that test truck products. Obviously you ALWAYS tie down a heavy and potentially dangerous item like a floor jack. That could have jumped up and through the back cab window or completely out of the truck. The OP realizes it was a mistake and I'll bet never make it again! S*it happens but it doesn't have to happen with items rattling around inside your truck bed.

If this thread isn't enough to scare you, consider this: tonight, when you pull onto the road to drive home (or, wherever), there's a good chance that some jackass has an unsecured load in the bed of their truck just one quick stab of the brakes or flick of the wheel from becoming a missile.

I was nearly beheaded on my motorcycle one day on I-75 because a negligent driver forgot to tie down a 70-qt cooler (-ish... it got close enough to read, but was going too fast). I pressed my left shoulder against the tank and the cooler skidded over the right temple area of my helmet.

Secure your loads. Don't be an idiot/murderer.

How did the repair turn out OP? I am interested in seeing it and which method you chose. I would not make an insurance claim on that. My first thought was weld and then lineX the bed.

I put a DeeZee mat in the bed of mine, no lineX yet and I may not do it unless I'm doing heavy hauling or maybe in 5-6 years to freshen up the truck.

Or do it now so in 5-6 years you don't have to

Kool video... I just had an idea. I have the bed done with Line-X but if I do the entire truck it just might be built ford tough again like they use to be.

It's already been done to many vehicles... here's a video...

I'm only going to do this once because you don't seem to comprehend my writing, you're terrible at arguing, and you use a lot of logical fallacies.

Shifting the burden of proof. A logical fallacy. As the person making the claim that the new gen of F150s are junk the burden lies on you to evidence your claim. You evidence this forum. I say that is weak anecdotal evidence that is statistically irrelevant. I showed you some basic math as to why I think that.

Do you work for Ford and have access to their warranty information? No I'm guessing you don't.
No i don't work for Ford. Yes, I have access to their warranty info as do all Ford owners and anyone who is willing to ask for it.

Im also guessing that you've never worked in warranty or quality before either.
I was a CDI (quality control technician) for 5 years in the Navy certifying repaired avionics equipment before installation in F/A-18s, P3s, SH-60s, E-2s, and EA6-Bs.

I think we've determined you're no good at guessing either.

So my sampling measurements are wrong.
Yes. See my above explanations as to why.

We are on a forum discussing flaws found in the truck by several thousands of other owners. So by your measurements if you are on a forum discussing flaws or issues or areas that you think need improvement than your a troll.....
Stawman argument. A logical fallacy. Discussing flaws doesn't make you a troll. Making extraordinary claims like "throw away truck", "junk", etc. require extraordinary evidence that you don't provide. Saying people who disagree with you are "drinking the Ford Kool-Aid", the above, and other inflammatory statements are the marks of trolling. That was my thought process.

I also never said that all cars today are cheap garbage. I said this particular generation of truck seems to be cheaper made in the quality department.
I know. I never said YOU SAID that (example of the comprehension issue). To evidence to why this truck is junk, you gave me a list of common problems seen on this forum. I said I could go to any car or truck forum and make a list of common problems too. I'm making an example of why your methodology is flawed. If I could go to any other forum and list common problems, by your methodology, I can conclude all those cars are junk. But we know that's not true. Hence your method is flawed.

I also said it was getting harder to find quality made goods. I think you are just trying to be a cool dude and score some points with other members by trying to pick a fight and calling people trolls.
I don't care what internet strangers think of me.

Why are you so against Ford making improvements on their products?
Red herring. A logical fallacy. I'm not, nor did I say I was, or in any way imply it.

I hope this helps you see more where I'm coming from.

I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings. You have yet to prove anything more than I have other than we have different opinions. Pretty sure Ford doesn't release how much each product cost them in warranty dollars or their top ten offender list for failures either. You have access how to submit a warranty claim and nothing more. By the way another guy called this generation of truck a POS in the 2018 fit and finish thread. You better start go calling him names too. I don't think your debating skills are worth a **** either. And your comprehensive skills are not too far behind.

Actually, @Neckbone did a pretty good breakdown of the problems with your arguments. I'd just leave it.

P.S., "hurt feelings" is an emotional appeal/strawman.

No need to stop, I want to see where he gets his warranty numbers to back up his statement that he has access to that information. Like I said before he doesn't have anything more than I do to back up his statements. Other than resorting to calling people trolls because I don't agree with him. There's plenty of people complaining about quality issues every day on this site.
