Default 3.5 Max Tow vs 6.7

I'm debating. Has anyone on her moved up or vice versa? I now drive 16 Platinum 3.5 with the max tow. I have 3 trailers and a boat. Snowmobile trailer is 7x23 enclosed. Weight is probably only around 4K loaded. Next I have a car hauler that is a 8.5x28 I'm 8k loaded maybe a bit more if I'm racing for the weekend. Next I have a 27ft bunkhouse bumper pull camper that is 7k loaded. Now my ecoboost pulls each one power wise quite easily. Stability is what has me leaning towards a 17 6.7 250. Found a good deal on a loaded XLT with FX4 and has BLIS. Dealership let me have it for a day and wants me to keep it this weekend. I love the power and towing is going to be a breeze. I just can't decide if I'll miss all the features my platinum has. Fuel mileage will go up towing but down as a daily. Plus maintenance is higher on the 6.7. Giving myself a headache...lol!

I went through all this. Ended up ordering a 2018 HDPP F150 Lariat. Can't go any higher on trim level with the HDPP. You can search my threads for more details. I've posted a good bit on my impressions.

The big diesels will retain initial value FAR better than a gas truck, and be superior while towing.

Superior while towing is an opinion, not a fact. I've owned and towed extensively with both. It all depends on WHAT you are towing. My Ram 2500 towed a Bobcat on a trailer way better than my F150 did, but my new F150 is far superior in towing my toy hauler. Right tool for the right job.

Good write up. Thanks for sharing. I upgraded all four corners of my max tow with the Bilstein 5100's. Left them at stock height. With my car hauler and the camper. I just feel the truck itself doesn't way enough for stable towing. With the right wind it can really get to moving.

Well, you can have both.

I still have my 2015 Platinum F-350 CC long bed when I want to luxuriate while towing. LOL It does sit for a while at a time, but man, when I get in that truck it dwarfs the rest of them. Just too much truck anymore for a daily driver.

There is no comparison between a 3.5 EB and 6.7 Diesel. I’ve pulled 10s of thousands of miles and there is no comparison between a 150 and a SD for stability. If you are looking for safety get the SD. Hook your trailer up this weekend and see for yourself.

Race weekend with car hauler usually not to far. Camping we have some long trips planned. Planning a 11 day trip out west so this main reason I'm thinking SD.
