Default 3.5 ecoboost or 5.0

Planning on ordering a 2015 Lariat. Towing a '19 boat occasionally. Will probably keep the truck 10 years. Which engine should I go with?

This same thread is literally about 5 posts below you. There's also a ton more threads if you search.

How much does your boat weigh? How often do you tow? And then you'll have to determine if you trust the turbos to last as long as you'll keep it, or if you think the 5.0 will be more reliable. For all intents and purposes, MPG is a wash.

Nobody has ever asked this before. That's a good question.

Boat is no more than 3000 lbs. I would tow it maybe 20 times a year. Most trips within an hour of my house. One or two longer trips 4 hours or so.

You might even be able to go for the 2.7 and reap the benefits of its improved unloaded MPG.

Do you intend to do a lot of unloaded driving with it?

OMFG, I swear if we delete all the 5.0 vs EB threads from this forum, the bandwidth usage goes down by 98%...

Sorry but I just got on the forum and thought I would get some helpful insight. Apparently I should just talk to my dealer and forget this forum. Why even bother to reply? Does it make you feel better about your pathetic self to criticize someone else's question. Get a life!

It's just that people who have been on the forum for a while have slogged through innumerable posts over many months about the relative merits of the available engines--where every conceivable opinion has been registered and there is now nothing new under the sun.

So, people can understandably be annoyed when yet another new thread on the subject is launched for the umpteenth time, whereas a simple search would have revealed anything anybody would like to know on the matter.
