3.31 rear end with 34.5 in tires
I have a f150 on order, thought we went up to 3.55 rear end, but have 3.31 on window sticker... planning on 34.5 in tires (the BF KO2s). I tow a boat occasionally. Do you think this gearing will be a huge issue? I don't mind it being a big slower off the line, I'm not drag racing in a towing competition, but functionally will I be screwed?

I have 5.0 with 3.55 and 34" and a 91octance performance tune and I feel just a little sluggish.
I say give it a shot, get a tune on her, if its still an issue go for a regear later. If you have the ability to go 3.55 or more now, I would, but not the end of the world if you cant.

5,000 lb boat
v6 eco
no tune (yet) not sure I want to toast the warranty
build date is 2/2 with window sticker released, I don't think there is any chance in the world of changing rear end now....other than aftermarket...how much does a regear cost?

I just put 295/60/20 Toyo OC AT2s (34x11.7- 62lbs) with a 5.0 3.31 and I didn't notice that big of a difference from stock. I also haven't seen a loss of MPG. I'm getting over 17 on average.
I had 305/55/20s on my 2012 EB w/3.73 and couldn't average above 15mpg.

If you do the regear yourself you can probably get the parts need for like $350-$500 per axle, likely double it for the labor if you have a shop do it.

My 2008 (4speed tranny)had 3.73 and doing 75-80 on the interstate I was running higher rpm with bigger tires (2400-2500). So when I bought my 2015 I got 3.31. Now I put a level on it I wanna go with 275/65/20 a 34" tire. I love the 3.31 so far, but wonder what the 34" tires will do to my milage and power. Maybe go with 275/60/20 and call it good, My truck is not a street queen, I bought it to use it.

Wow, that's bizarre! Stock tires weigh 43lbs.....you added 19lbs per tire and no milage difference? Hmm
