I had the 34" BFG KO2's, I think they were 275/60/20???? Nevertheless, the ride was harsh. So I installed 285/65/20 KO2's last week and am pretty happy with the swap. The only negative, even though they are still a somewhat rough ride, is they killed my power. I was surprised that a tire that is only 1/2" larger and a couple pounds heavier zapped the power like that.

I have 275/65/20 BFG KO2s on a RWD 2.7 with no lift as of yet. No rubbing. Ride quality is better than the 265/60/18 stock tires (less bouncy/more grounded) and about the same as the 275/55/20. It's an E rated tire and 34.1".
I have 3.31 gears. I didn't notice a power drop before I put in my tuner. I'm running 5*'s 87 eco tune and I'm still getting about 23MPG.
I find it amazing that a 3.5 w/ 3.55 would have a noticeable power drop, especially since the 285/65/20 is only 4lbs per tire heavier than the 275/65/20 (BFG KO2).
My tires now are 14lbs per tire heavier than the 275/55/20 Hankooks and it didn't affect me much.

How can the smaller of the two ride more harsh? My stock Hankook AT's are smooth as can be. I would thing going with the next size up would only improve the ride. I really like the looks of the 285/65/20 BFG KO2's, but in the 2015 Platinum I rode in with that tire and 2" lift made the truck ride much more rough.
