Question 285/55/R20 vs. 275/55/R20

I have a 2016 XLT SuperCrew towing a 5800 lbs. Jayco travel trailer. The truck came with Michelin LTX 275/55/R20 M/S 2. When they wear out I want to go with the BFG K02 so I plan to add Bilstein 5100's all the way around lifting the rear 1 inch and the front by an amount that wouldn't change the rake. My question is would I be able to move up to a 285/55/R20 tire without any clearance issues or other issues when towing.

No problems. Wouldn't even need to lift the front end.

Yes, they are only 10mm wider and the diameter is only about a half inch larger than 275/55/R20.

Kinda small tire to need a lift.

The Bilsteins are a huge improvement over stock, I’ve ran them on another truck before. I’ll run the 5100 or 4600 when I change shocks.

+1 on kinda small.
you could go 285/55/20 with stock ride height.

I've installed Bilstein 6112 on front, 5100 on rear - leveled the front 2''. (my truck has "maybe" 1/2 inch of rake now). With this set up, I've installed 285/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers - no rubbing or cutting. I love the tire.

What are you trying to achieve with the all-terrain tire? BFG is not great in clay based mud or on ice, but great in sand, dry or wet pavement. Clay based mud and ice are issues that you will experience in the Atlanta area. Michelin Defender comes in a E-rated truck tire too. I am currently running Yokohama Geolander G015 LT285/55R20 which I swapped out from BFG LT275/60R20. The Yokohama has better manners on ice and wet pavement. Another tire getting good reviews is the Bridgestone Revo 3.

2017ExecFx4, how close are your tires to the crash bars and other bits during steering lock? I plan on running the same suspension but 275/65r20 tires.

you can see the space between my front tire and the bumper in the pic. I have AT LEAST 1/2 inch - I do not rub anywhere under any condition. (That has to do w/ the wheels though....if I didn't have the +44 offset...I think I would rub.

@2017ExecFx4 Having offset on your set up would cause you to rub IMO. Enough offset definitely causes rubbing from what I’ve read on multiple threads here. There are guys who run 35s on stock wheels (+44 offset) with no rubbing at all.
