I really didn't like the front bench seat with the fold-down middle seat (40/40/20) that becomes the center arm rest. When folded down, the center seat/arm rest was way too high to be comfortable for me. I much prefer the bucket seats with the actual console in the middle. (I would add that my '05 had the 40/40/20 and it was much better; it allowed your arm to rest at the same level as the door-mounted arm rest. The newer model, though, not so comfortable.)

 

Except it's not a year older, they are both brand new trucks for all practical purposes! I will not get any more years or miles out of the 2020, the only difference is I pay higher an extra year of higher excise taxes in my state. But yes I kind of see the point, and the 2020 probably is a better bet for several reasons.

 

Hello fellow Mainer! One other thing to consider is the rebates on the 2019 trucks will be higher. I'm seeing $1,000 on '20s and $2250 on the '19s

 

Is this some type of age neutral thing lol In your eyes it might not be a year older and you're right they will both give you the same life but the fact of the matter is one is 1 year older than the other. If you never plan to sell the truck then its not as important I guess but the 19 is over priced if you can get a 2020 for only $700 more. I don't know what the depreciation is like where you live but I would guess on average the first 3 years you could expect to lose $3k or more.

 

That's a good point. They're both effectively new, but the model year will still have an effect on the final financials. That being said, I think it will ultimately come down to personal preference.
I'd go with the 2019 due to the center console and the outlet. I use both of those very frequently in my 2016 and love them. That's just my two cents.

Based on what @F150 buyer has said so far and from his initial posting, it sounds like he intends to drive it until the wheels fall off. I think he'll be fine regarding depreciation, barring some freak situation where he has to get rid of the truck.

 

My 2 cents:

Buy the truck you like best.

 

Tires, wiper rubber, and all the components will be newer. I'm biased, but I feel any hiccups continue to get worked out as well.

 

I bought a 2020 XLT listing for 54354 for 43300 - Ford employee pricing in Sept. You should be getting a bigger discount on a 2020 higher grade of truck. A 2019 is a 2 year old truck now so I agree moneywise to go for the 2020. Doesn't matter where the deal is, except I would go back to the local dealer and say, cut me a better deal or I'm going to buy a year newer truck from dealer X for y$. The local dealer still has to service your truck, and a lot of people only go to them for warranty anyway. However, if you have seen and driven both trucks, go with what makes you happy since you expect to have it a long time. If you decide to buy the local truck without checking out the other that is your call, but it is nice weather for a drive.

 

$700 less isn't enough to go a year older. Your resale will instantly reflect way more than a $700 loss.

$4,000 less? Yes.
