2020 prices should be going down...or up....?

You're probably right. There are a few 2019's on the lot here, not equipped how'd I want them and they're still not moving on them (from what I've seen online at least). We don't need a new truck, so may just want for the 2021's.

I'm thinking that I will probably hold off on trading up until maybe 2022. Looks like prices are gonna be at a premium for some time...especially if they shut down manufacturing. I get paid mileage on my truck with one of my jobs...and all the mileage money goes into a separate "truck fund" account. I figured that I would let the company buy me a new truck ever two to three years (providing I get sent on enough out of state jobs) . I love my current '19 XLT...but I would really like to trade up to the new gen....maybe even a Lariat if I can swing that.
On another note....one thing I did notice on the new gen truck is the upper glove box compartment, and wondered why our current gen trucks don't have a more decent compartment. I know the passenger side air bag is located in the dash....but even the Chebby trucks have a pretty massive area for glove boxes...having an upper and a lower, like the new gen Ford has.
The other thing I really like on the new gen is the fold down console lid for the workstation. That would really be handy...!

Unfortunately, I have some insight on this because I wanted a Lariat 502A Special Edition and had a horrible time getting one. Finally picked mine up this morning.
From the time coronavirus hit
My suggestion, shop MULTIPLE dealers. They are all pricing vehicles differently based on local markets. I found 2 Lariat 502A Special Editions within 50 miles of me. 1 was close and the other was 40 miles one way. Closer dealer was in a pocket where all the dealers were starting to suffer from inventory shortage and were only offering about $2,000 below sticker for a truck that had been on the lot for 3 days. The dealer 40 miles away has tons of vehicles and I walked out this morning with my truck that had been on the lot for 3 weeks for almost $10,000 under sticker.
From the time coronavirus hit
- Production of vehicles plummeted.
- Leased vehicles were not allowed to be traded in while most states were shut down.
- When states reopened there was a massive surge of leased vehicle turn ins and new vehicle dealer supply began to fly off the lots.
- Ford realized they were not going to be able to keep up with the demand for vehicles and notified dealers of an "impending shortage." Dealers begin to hoard vehicles and raise prices.
- Ford begins to cancel orders for 2020 F-150s, specifically Lariat trim levels and up due to too many orders being placed and not enough time to complete them before the lines change to 2021MYs. (I had TWO Lariat truck orders cancelled. First was a custom order, 2nd was a dealer placed order that my salesman acquired).
- Ford drastically reduces incentives at the start of July.

2nd order was a dealer placed order that had already been approved on 6/24. Salesman got the call saying it was cancelled on 7/9 due to a "black painted parts shortage".

Just checked the text messages from my salesman. 1st order submitted was on 6/30. Salesman got a call the next day and said the order had been cancelled due to too many orders being placed.

I placed a RCSB order on 7/9 and have been awaiting a call everyday now that it’s been canceled lol.

I placed an order on 6/22 for a lariat 6 1/2 bed in magna red and ford canceled it on 7/6 after giving a vin # and build date. I placed a 2nd order and got a vin # and build date of 9/14, but they wouldn't do the power steps and it is being built in Kansas instead of Dearborn now.

Interesting scenario i recently discovered. Back in march, i did KBB on my truck for its trade in value, and it was about 27k. Did it last week and it was 31.5k. Not looking to trade right now but was pleasantly surprised
