I too like the look of the GM trucks. I think they have great lines "outside". I shopped a GMC Denali before I bought my 2017 Lariat 502a FX4.

For me, the big problem is the interior - seems very cheap compared to the F150. Not just 1 step below, but several. Column shift is subjective....but, I sure like the center console shift.

When I looked at Truck Trend and spy shots of the 2019, it doesn't appear to me GM are deviating much from their interior formula.

RAM has outsold Chevy (not Chevy/GMC combined) for the last 2 months. If they have to suffer a full year of losing ground, it's going to be a big impact to GM.

I will believe a turbo 6 when I see it... I think GM's big ace up their sleeve for this next Gen truck is going to be expanding the 6.2 to the whole lineup including the lower and midrange trim levels.

They'll license a Bob Seger song for their commercials too. (Actually, I wouldn't mind this, anything is better than the little redheaded nerd they have "hosting" their current ad campaign.

they had some guy with a man bun and skinny jeans touting their new Equinox the other night. Their "real people" adds are the worst. At least Ford tries with their commercials to make you think you bought a truck to use for work.

Expanding a motor that's headed for the graveyard?

I doubt it. GM is so far behind you'll have to wait a couple of years but you'll see it.

What exactly are they behind on? My silverado interior was just as nice if not more comfortable as my Ford? My 5.3 was great, stereo was worlds better, nav UI was much better, cooled seats worked better, not a single rattle, etc. loved that truck, and would have a hard time not buying one again. Love my Ford though.

According to the article....

"The biggest rumor surrounding the next generation of GM trucks is aluminum body construction, as well as turbocharged and hybrid 6-cylinder engines. In other words, everything Ford has already been doing for several years."

Part of this is that Ford had started so early, that they had the production aluminum spoken for! (Remember Alan Mullay had an aerospace (think aluminum contacts) background.)

GM couldn't have switched to aluminum right away if they wanted to. They had to wait for aluminum production to catch up.

Wouldnt consider that "so far behind" though. The new DFI 6.2 is unreal. and gets crazy good gas mileage.

Eh, they probably bought an F150 and disguised it to look like a GM.

Or they are using the 10 Speed Transmission and giving Ford all the credit for it with the badge on the grill.

Transmission by FORD.

They have a long way to go to meet what Ford already puts down to the ground for towing. If they have to have an engine nearly twice the displacement of the EB to get even close to the output of the 5.0, what does that tell you about being so far behind.
