I owned 2 Rangers before my current F150. I personally found the article interesting.

It's the same truck you can buy in South America now. I drove on in Colombia a couple of months ago. Looks like they took off part of the roll bar the SA trucks get and obviously emission and safety stuff has to be met but body wise it's the same.

FWIW from a historical perspective, it seems to me that back in the 1960's the ranger was actually a trim package on the F100 for a few years

What I found interesting is they said that's the international version and will differ in appearance/performance for the US market. While this gives some insight as to what they might look like, it's no better insight than this is.

I figured if they brought it back it would be a mid-size to compete with the Colorado. Too bad; as much as I love the room in the F150, I'd love a small short bed like the older models.

I would consider this a mid-size truck. It looks very similar to a colorado.

As popular as the F150 is, if I were to make a smaller truck I would literally all but shrink down the F150 to the scale of a slightly smaller Colorado.

A lot of folks want the F150 but just don't need the size but still want to drive a truck along with a little better mpg's. They'd capture sales from the Taco, Ridgeline and Colorado.

Here's hoping they do it right.

I certainly hope it's better looking than this. IMO, 50% of Fords current offering are hideous looking so let's hope the ranger styling tends toward the f-series/mustang rather than the escape/cmax side of things.

Solid little truck with a capable diesel. They're like gnats down there...they're everywhere. Those and the Toyota HiLux crew cab diesels.
