I was able to program @starliner57 friend's ACC yesterday but unfortunately the test version of FORScan I had wasn't able to replace the IDS/FDRS PMI procedure. I also need to eat my words on my thought that any ABS ECU may be able to be made to work. Below were the steps tried but ultimately only the new ABS ECU along with IDS PMI worked.

1. tried FORSCan test version on his current Lariat ABS ECU along with ACC changes - FAILED
2. tried IDS PMI on his current ABS ECU - FAILED
3. flashed his stock ABS ECU's firmware to ACC level and tried FORScan test version - FAILED
4. tried IDS PMI on his stock ABS ECU (with now flashed firmware) - FAILED
5. installed new ABS ECU and tried FORScan test version - FAILED
6. did IDS PMI on new ECU - SUCCESS

Wish I had better news but seems there's no way around the new ABS ECU and IDS/FDRS PMI for the time being. I've submitted my log files to the FORScan developer but I'm out of local vehicles to try these experiments on so I'm going to bow out at this point and sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.

Thanks for working on this and I have a couple of questions:
When you say ABS ECU are you saying the while unit has to be replaced (Module and Valve unit) or just the ABS electronic module?
Is this for getting only the Stop and Go working or also include getting just adaptive cruise (keeping distance on interstate) working?

Just the ABS electronic module and this is for stop and go ACC (2018+ trucks)

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give a performance update on how the acc system is working I just returned from vacation I pulled my boat 1300 miles using the acc and it
works fantastic. It is a great addition to your trucks and is well worth the trouble to install it. Also if you have a 5.0 engine F150 the bumper harness part
number is JL3Z-15K867-D it is not on KR2019 list he has the 3.5 ecoboost. Good luck with this mod again it IS well worth the effort.

@Livnitup as well as anyone else using IDS/FDRS

My new ABS module is in snail mail and I am now looking at either a clone VCM II or J2534 and was wondering if anyone has used these with IDS/FDRS or if they only used the Bosch VCMII? I don't mind spending $200 if it will work but hate to spend it and find out it won't work or only works with an older version of IDS/FDRS.

Another question is there anyone in the Upstate SC area with a VCMII / IDS or knows an independent shop that I could hook up with?

Looking forward to getting ACC S&G working soon!

Thanks

The VCMII clone you linked to above should be fine. Don't bother installing anything from the CDs it comes with as the only thing you'll probably need to do to it is upgrade the firmware on it but the VCI manager that comes with IDS/FDRS will let you know if you need to do that and it will do it for you.

@starliner57 ,

I'm getting closer to that ACC as my brake module just came in and now to wait for my VCM II so I can do the PMI. Just wanted to check as I was expecting a normal electronic module and not something that looks like this.

So by replacing this it does not open the brake lines, correct?

Also, did yours come with a zip lock bag of goodies and are they needed? Thanks

You just unbolt the module from the hcu and bolt the new one on Torque is 27 lb.in, don't remove any of the lines!

@fordpiper so all you are waiting for is the VCM II and I guess you will purchase a license from Ford to do your own IDS programming? I have the ABS Module, I was just waiting to get it programmed. Let me know how this plays out and your steps so I understand what needs to happen. The way it sounded I thought there was an expensive piece of equipment to program this so that is why I was waiting for the dealership.

the module was easy to install and I just used the new bolts.

@algab ,

That is my plan and been chatting with Livnitup and I found a VCM II clone that he feels should work. If you buy the real VCM II (discontinued) and replaced with VCM III you will need to cough up $1400 plus but the clone I found was $209 shipped. When it gets here and I give it a test and hopefully get this ACC working I will let you know.

I'm happy with spending $209 for the device as i can use it anytime I need to use IDS or FJDS so to me it is an investment. My dad always taught me to always use the correct tool and to get (borrow if you know someone with it or buy) the tool when fixing things. If not for the clone prices I would not buy the VCM II for the price the real ones go for.

I just wish the license didn't cost as much as it does but I figured between a two day license and the cost of the VCM II I would be breaking even or maybe even a little cheaper than paying the dealer. They not cheap when you want something special done and since I didn't buy the part from them likely won't even touch it.

Did you replace yours already but haven't done the PMI or did you put the old one back on while you wait?
