Default 2018 V8 specs

We don't have HP and TQ numbers yet, but do we know what the configuration this 5.0l V8 will be. Still seq port injection? Changes to the cylinder sleeves?

Virtually most of the 2015, 5L went maximum performance and unfitable with the former 5L, so I would look to any new motor change to be equally significant and unusable on the former motors. Heads, valve timing, engine blocks, fuel injection etc, would be all different fits, mostly for all intents and purposes a completely new motor.

It's going direct injection. I'm anxiously waiting and looking for specs.

Dual injection, start/stop, should be very similar in architecture, just different in the details.

Incorrect. In 2015 the 5.0 got some minor tweaks and a moderate hp boost but most of the parts are interchangeable. I would in no way call it "maximum performance". Even the 100 hp/liter voodoo isn't "maximum performance".

To the OP, ford hasn't announced anything but I expect you'll see a compression ratio increase to work hand-in-hand with the direct injection. How much is ford's decision, but I think it's Mazda that's shown you can go as high as 13/1 on pump gas with DI. If ford went from 10.5 to 12.5 (they probably won't), you could expect an extra 35 hp and 1-2 mpg. The mustang is expected to get a 25-35 hp bump so the numbers line up. However, as we know, we will only get whatever hp gain ford intends us to have, not necessarily what they're capable of doing.

Unfortunately that's exactly it. The thing that gets me is that the Mustang is getting 50 more horsepower than the F150 because Ford is limiting the F150 to make the EcoBoost look better.

Check the specs. The 5.0 in the truck is tuned for higher torque. And all the specs for the Mustang are on 93 octane fuel, where the F150 is 87.

My guess is at least 400/400, but since we are only 15 away on hp and 13 on tq, probably more like 400/420.

It will be a nice engine especially combined with the 10-speed. I would agree with a 2-3 mpg increase. I don't care much for auto start/stop, so I would disable it.

Id expect 400hp/410tq,

Good numbers,,,

,,, but,,, ,

Id REALLY like to see it making 350tq @ 2200rpm.

Peak #s are all well and good, but the 5.3 GM makes much better use of its tq, making almost +55ft lbs over the current 5.0 at 2300rpm.
