Also if the truck has low mileage, the computer learns driving habits on the fly which might eventually smooth things out.

My 5.0 6-speed shifts smooth as silk.
Absolutely no unexpected down/up shifts or gear hunting.

I can half way see updating the trans. to an 8 speed but 10 speeds?
Maybe too much of a good thing!

I've owned 3 3.5 Ecoboost and have been stuck in a 2018 5.0 with the 10spd. My 16 has been in repair because I was hit head on. I can not wait much longer!! No clue what rear end is in the 5.0 but it is a pouch. Constantly searching gears. Can't hold 10th on the interstate. Drops to 8th going up hills. The morning hard shifts when it's cold feels like the tranny is going to fall out. I'm sorry maybe not a fair comparison not knowing what gears it has but I am the least impressed.

Now that I have some more drive time under my belt, I'm with you on the hard shifts when cold, when I back out of the driveway and switch from reverse to drive, it feels like I hit a wall when it shifts, which is OK for me (performance oriented driver) but not so with the family in the truck. A cold downshift to first on wet roads will break the rear tire loose for a split second. It also feels like the converter is super tight or even locked at low speeds, ie when cruising around parking lots, the truck will jerk forward with small throttle input. Maybe that's just the byproduct of having a super short first gear, the torque of the V8 is amplified by a lot. Almost like having a Polaris RZR in low gear, throttle input is just super sensitive.

Love the WOT feel of the transmission, but I feel like low speed part throttle needs to be refined.
