Default 2018 truck which motor

I can’t wrap my head around this 10 speed tranny. I’m thinking 3.3 with a 6 speed. Help, I can’t decide, pluses or minuses on either.thanks in advance

3.3
3.5
5.0
2.7.

You really need to do a search. This topic has been beat to death.

Also, you left out probably the most logical of all choices...the 2.7EB.

I have the 3.5 EB w/10 Speed and love it. No issues what so ever.

NOT the 5.0.

You will regret it.

Not sure you will find a consensus to this. Everyone has their own reasons for choosing what they did. Others have had a bad experience with one engine or another and will hate on it like it is the plague. If you search, you will find all kinds of conflicting opinions. Personally I believe they all have their merits depending on one's needs. Probably why Ford offers them all.

I agree with this. We would need detailed usage plans and body/drive configuration to give educated advice.

Even though it wasn't my pick, I'd say the 2.7EB probably covers darn near 75% of the range. It is probably also the highest volume in sales, so it seems most are choosing wisely.

Love my 2.7. Thing is a rocket when needed. Good gas mileage and based on limited data, seems to be the most reliable over the 3.5 and the 5.0. From reading here the 3.3 and 6 sp is a good combo too.

The 2.7L w/ the 10-speed tranny is the most reliable, trouble-free combo to date.

Sounds like you just want the cheapest. No need to beat around the bush, own it!
