I have a 2018 Lariat purchased in January 2019. Over the past few weeks I've had an intermittent issue where the tailgate won't release - I push the release button on either the remote or tailgate itself and it doesn't drop. Even when I pull down on it while doing this it won't budge. Any suggestions aside from taking it in?

It's under warranty. I would take it in, no hesitation.
