2018 "popping" noise in 4wd

I've had to use 4wd a few times no on my rig, and if I'm in 4HI or 4LO in reverse with the wheels turned, the truck has mad a popping noise from the front diff a few times. Anyone know what this could be?

I'm guessing you have the wheels turned too tight for the CV Axles.

Do you have 4A (4 auto)? I was driving around with 4HI for a while with similiar noises when cranking left or right. After switching to 4A the noises went away.

Are your tires all the same size and condition? Tires could cause some drivetrain binding.

Are you on dry pavement/ground?

Aren't 4H and 4L supposed to be used only on straight asphalt/concrete (or off-road, obviously)? Don't use it unless you have to. If you want to have it engaged all the time, you need 4A, which only engages when it's needed, and without damaging the system.

These are normal sounds don’t worry.

oh and like others said. Don’t turn the truck in 4hi or 4low on the dry pavement. Ouch

You’re fine. Like the others said, dont use 4H and 4L on a dry or non-slippery surface. Turning is okay as long as you aren’t going to lock, and the surface is slippery, i.e. snow, mud, etc, whete the tires can slip slightly.

Edit: I misread and thought the title said “pooping” noise. But, that’s a serious yet different issue.
