2018 platinum vs. 2018 raptor vs. 2018 xlt lariat

Hi there, I am currently shopping and trying to decide between which f 150 would be the right choice. I currently own a 2015 1794 Toyota Tundra with 41,000 miles and I am very happy with the truck, but I am not happy with toyota being so slow in keeping up with the latest technology and their research and development towards the tundra seems to be on the back burner, almost like they don't really care. I honestly think toyota puts their money into cars and suv's. I wouldn't be surprised if toyota drops the tundra after 2019. They've done nothing since 2007 with the tundra and they have discontinued the tundra TRD pro and they are discontinuing the 4 runner in the states.
Now onto ford. I really like the f 150. I am currently trying to decide between the raptor vs. the platinum vs. xlt lariat. I love the raptor looks, although I live up in the northeast and we have no deserts up here, and our woods and off roading territories really don't favor the raptor, although we do get a lot of snow up here. The other thing I don't like about the raptor is the dealers up here in New England will not budge from $ 5000.00 to $ 10,000.00 over msrp. I have never paid msrp for a truck, let alone over. The thing about the raptor is I feel like I will never use 50 % of what's on the truck, so paying over msrp seems stupid to me.
The platinum I really like. I think for where I live the platinum fits the bill perfectly, although I wish it came with 18 inch tires. This leads into the xlt lariat and why it intrigues me, because you can get the xlt lariat loaded with 18 inch tires, which are much better in the snow.
I was just wondering if anybody could help me with the comparison between the three f 150 models and is the raptor worth $ 5000.00 to $ 10,000.00 over msrp. And what are you giving up and not getting by going with a loaded XLT Lariat vs. a loaded platinum. I was considering the ecoboost for the platinum and the lariat.
Any comments or help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

For me, Lariat checked all my boxes without standard options on higher trims I did not want. Final thought: The last massage chair I bought at Costco stopping working after 3 years but at least they took it back.

XLT and Lariat are two different trims, and have quite a few differences. For me, I decided Platinum was the way, and I love this truck!

I have a loaded 2016 Platinum... (other than the SYNC module that they are replacing tomorrow) it's an awesome truck!
A few things to consider...
Payload (if you need it for towing) is significantly reduced in Platinum compared to what you can get with Lariat.
Giant moon roof is nice, but I seldom open it or even have the fabric back because the truck gets hot quickly from the sun.
To do it again, I would look much harder at a loaded Lariat than I did last time.

It depends on your definition of outperform. The EB is better on the low end at the 5.0 is better on the high end. Neither engine is definitively better than the other. They’re better at specific tasks. Drive both and see what you like. You’re the one paying the bill.
As for your wheel/tire combo, you’re not buying 18” tires. You’re buying 18” wheels with 32” tires. The wheels make no difference in traction. The tires touch the ground. The wheels don’t. Traction is entirely dependent on your choice of tire tread and compound. Which song you pick to play through the stereo has about the same effect on traction that the wheels do.

Massage seats? I guess for the number of times you're going to use it, you are better off with a good $50 massage seat cover and when you don't want to use it just just remove it. Some have stated that the lariat seats are less stiff than the platinum's, because of not having the massage elements.
If it's for the difference of looks of the interior or some details on the exterior, then I'd agree that the money difference is worth it. We should always get what we like or we will regret it later and have to live with it or discard it and loose more money than it costs to spend on the initial difference.
I read a lot on another thread the opinion of many who disliked the look of the Special Edition package on Lariat and XLT and what a waste of money it was. I do agree that the money Ford charges on the exclusivity of the package is pure robbery(!!), but I like the interior and exterior looks so much that I would be hating myself right now if I hadn't got it. This is the truck I built and waited for. This is the truck I haven't seen a "copy" of yet on the road and I feel different for once, but this isn't really important. What's important is the truck I love to look at and drive.
