2018 XLT 2.7 4x4. 302a. 9000 miles
twice this week the steering wheel got hot, like a heated steering wheel

but I don’t have a heated steering wheel that I am aware of

it stayed hot only for a short time, like 2 or 3 minutes, both times in stop and go city traffic while the stop start feature was on and being used.I usually keep the start stop turned off.......but I was trying it out in city traffic
that was the only change from normal driving habits

any ideas, sure did seem strange for the steering wheel to get hot, heater and A/C were both off, fan was off

Was the sun hitting it? Even if you had the heated steering wheel you would have to turn it on and for it to cool down you would have to turn it off.

Mine stopped with the slight drop in temperature about a week ago. The service manager told me to bring it back if it started up again. They've been great to deal with so far so here's hoping. This is also why I leased the truck - gives me the option of just dumping it back on Ford right as the warranty ends.

couple weeks in ive had just a couple quirky things

Phone didnt connect to SYNC3 once, fixed it by turning car off and on

the radio screen stayed black when i started the car, fixed it by turning car off and on

one of my keys on the keypad doesnt illuminate yet the keypad still works, the dealer said that usually this means the keypad has to be replaced... Thus far it works and i use that key that does not light up for my code.

not the sunshine, it was in the 70 degree range and no direct sunlight

the steering wheel got HOT....like your heated seats on high..........so it must have the heating element in the wheel

what turned it on and what turned it off ..........????

it happened Saturday morning early and then again on Sunday Oct 27 and 28

I did use the heated seat on Monday Oct 22 for the first time......it was low 50's and I left the house with shorts and short sleeves
turned seats on for a few minutes to take the chill off, they will BBQ your *** on high, I never had heated seats before
then the truck sat for a week until Oct 27
cranked her up and didn't drive a mile and the steering wheel got hot just for a few minutes

turned out the the sensor was bad and back ordered as an upgraded part - ie lots of these are bad out there so maybe a bad batch.
My mileage has taken a big hit since. Been told to keep driving it while waiting on the part.
I also have the transmission cluck

has anyone figured out how to open the tailgate without the fob when the truck is locked? really annoying for me to have to go to keypad when you need to load something.

Leave the fob in your pocket. Otherwise, locked and no fob..? Those days are over with push button tails, at least for now.
Another thing too, when its unlocked, set it to global unlock in settings. Just in case you hadn't read that yet:-)
