Once a pinion has run loose with excessive play it is almost impossible to get the whine noise out of the gears.
Quit being cheap replace all the bearings and a new crown and pinion.
This is warranty work not a patch job.

it is unfortunately a catch 22 situation, ford dings us if we over repair something, but if not all the parts get replaced, it has to get torn back apart again which makes for an annoyed customer(me in this case). If they do rip it back apart, im going to make sure they replace the carrier bearings as well

Remind technical service now the job has to be done twice and the cost is going to be as much or more than doing it properly the first time!
This is not the dealers fault that the factory quality control is to put it plainly S***.

@xrlizard

just went on a ride along with the tech and SM, put about 100 miles on since the repair. Noise has gone away to the best of my knowledge. They didn't hear anything and neither did i

Usually if set correctly they never give trouble.

@djfllmn Thanks for the update. That is surprising that it seems to have cleared up, but I am glad to hear it. I need to mine in soon. Not enough time! Keep us posted if any new developments, and I will definitely report back after I take mine in.
