2018 Owners Only--Any Issues So Far???
#1531
My 2016 XLT was noisy, mainly from driver’s door area. My 2018 Lariat is almost as quiet as my Lexus. If you are picking an F150 off the lot to buy, test drive several. Ford’s quality control varies from truck to truck. Also, I found trucks with the 20” wheels drive and handle lots better than the 18” wheels, I suppose due to the stiffer sidewalls.
The NOISH app should be great for measuring wind noise in different trucks.

great idea, I just compare it the old fashioned way though, I compare it to my 98 tacoma, 09 crv, my 07,10, and 14 lariat's, and it is the noisiest by those measurements. I'll try that app though, thanks for letting us know it exist.

I reported a similar noise on my 4,600-mile 2018 since it was the first time I drove it with the windows open. It's not worrisome, but curious what the heck it is. It sounds like a combination of pinging with ratcheting. It's definitely not knocking or pinging, since it doesn't do it at higher speeds and lower rpm, which means more engine load. I use regular fuel though, but always Chevron or Shell, and from a large, high-traffic station, so it's not bad fuel at all. What I thought today it could be is maybe the tune is for premium fuel, and the engine pings initially, then the cam phasers retard timing, with their reported ratcheting sound, although that has been reported only when cold. Not sure if that's what it is, but at least now it's not that loud, but it happens even when hot. Hope it doesn't get worse. We'll see.

I suspect it is occurring at all speeds, but can only hear it at low speed, usually like in a quiet parking lot. I even ran along side with my wife driving and I couldn’t hear it from outside. I have been hearing it since 500 miles, now have 4,000 miles on the truck and the sound is the same, not any louder. I’m pretty sure it’s not in a wheel/tire or brake related. My wild guess is rear end or transfer case. It’s definitely not engine noise.

Doors not locking or even staying shut. Parking brake not releasing.
I have a 2018 Super Crew Platinum. I absolutely love this truck. I've had it for around 4 months and have 2500miles on it.
Today for the first time something very strange happened. I got in started it up as usual and when I went to pull out, the parking brake would not automatically release as it usually does when I hit the accelerator. I always set the parking brake because my driveway is on a slight 3% incline, I don't want it to rest on that incline on the parking gear so I use the parking brake. So I had to manually release the parking brake and I pulled out. I thought it a bit strange but no big deal. As I got down the alley not to far from my house, my drivers door opened up all by itself. I tried closing and slamming the door but it would not even stay closed, not just would it not lock, it would not stay shut. I had to hold the door close with one hand and drive with the other ! I got to a spot I could pull off got out and was able to close it from the outside with the handle, I also closed and opened it with my fob. It worked after that. I got back in and all was well until.... I picked up a passenger a mile away, when he got in the same issue, his door would not close , not just lock, it would not close! he had to hold the door shut until, I could pull off, he got out and manually closed it from the outside with the handle, then he got back in and it worked. It was not just that the doors would not lock, the mechanism would not even hold them closed !
This happened this morning. These two issues, the parking brake not releasing and the doors being unable to close happened on the same trip not too far from my house. So far we are back to normal everything seems to be working fine. I thought , maybe the locks where frozen but that would not effect the parking brake. Although it was 32 degrees this morning, most mornings it has been colder with rain and drizzle with none of the problems I mentioned appearing. In fact I have had the truck all winter with no issues.
It seems to me to be some sort of software issue. Then Again, I'm thinking maybe it is something I did wrong. Maybe on starting, I did not close the driver door all the way and that prevented the parking brake from releasing? Maybe a fob issue, I did remote start it ? but then why a mile from the house was my passenger not able to get his door to close. I have to say it is pretty scary when you are traveling down the road and have to hold them shut with your hands to keep them from flying open. I wonder if there is something on the productivity screen I should be checking ?
So far things seems to be back to normal. I will let the forum know if these issues come back.
I anyone knows what this could be or any ideas, please chime in. Thanks.

2018 F150 XLT Leadfoot Edition 2.7 4x2 with 1100 miles about a month and couple days old. Its makes this weird whistling and whoosh noise when i step on the gas jk. Great so far can't seem to get above 17mpg down here in South Texas in the city and theres a slight winding noise from the engine like a high pitched power steering type noise. First time ford buyer so i will see
My main complaint is the auto dimming issue on Sync 3. I keep my instrument dimming very low at night and when I start the truck in the morning it's on full blast bright. I have to use my instrument button next to my light switch to turn it back down....every...time.

I am hearing the same thing in my 2.7. At first I thought it was a wheel bearing going bad. I only hear it at 65mph and above. Probably normal.

Ambitious But Rubbish
Yes, it's electronically actuated and will release on purpose if you apply the smallest bit of throttle with it engaged in Reverse or Drive.
