2018 Owners Only--Any Issues So Far???

Nothing like a good long road trip to get to know your new vehicle. Drove to Texas to visit family and put 2800 miles on my 2018 King Ranch (picked up in late October). Coming from a 2015 King Ranch I didn’t expect much of a difference other than Sync 3, but I was surprised at how much better the lane keeping system was. It took me about 300 miles of freeway driving before I realized the truck never got pushed around when passing semis. Same thing for crosswind. Didn’t realize there was one until we stopped and I opened the door and almost got pulled from the truck by a tsunami of arctic air in Minnesota. On my 2015 lane keeping was mostly a rattle the steering wheel warning while the 2018 is actually doing a subtle and helpful assist when needed. Most of the time I don’t even notice it is assisting. It always put me back into the center of the lane and when a larger correction is needed it does so accurately and swiftly. I was very impressed with how much this had improved. It’s not autonomous (and it’s not supposed to be), but it really made for a much less fatiguing driving experience. Gave me a new sense of calm in situations with a semi on one side and a concrete barrier on the other. It really surprised me at how much it improved the driving experience.

These engines are designed to run on 87 (and are still adaptive to higher octanes to optimize performance)...but motors like the 5.0 with a higher compression ratio don't seem to like it too much. There have been several threads on here about audible spark knock. Given...those trucks most likely had something else going on, but using 93 on the EB's and 5.0 is a sound way to go. I don't consider it to be a waste of money at all.

Modern engines don’t knock or hesitate on 87. But you will get better performance out of 93 octane . The engine an simply use more timing under load which translates into more power.

I also came from a 15 King Ranch into my new 18 King Ranch but got mine very early Sep last year. Have it her now for about 15 months, she is a beast and luxury all at the same time, really spoils me. Love the new 10 sp and the extra torque. Like you said also the improved Sync and other electronics, stereo seems better also.

I agree with Bob, the '18 is really a nice upgrade for me coming from an '05 XLT SCAB. Ride, braking, appointments, power, tech, finish quality all much upgraded.

My clunking rattling pano roof on my 2018 Lariat seems to have fixed itself. It was rattling from the moment I drove off the lot...now a few weeks later theres no more rattle.

My interior had a few squeaks and rattles for the first week or so that seemed to have fixed themselves as well. Interior is almost luxury car quiet now. No Pano roof on mine though.

Well not many people will come here unless they have issues or complaints so what you get a lot of are the folks that are having issues and looking for guidance or solutions. Makes Ford look like they don't build good ones, you figure they produce 600-700 thousand per year and even at 1% that is a lot of vehicles.
