Default 2018: Which Motor? 2.7 VS 3.5 Eco

I plan on using my truck for normal driving and towing around 5K pounds. I also like performance.

Which motor would you pick?

Research, no need for a poll. Utilize the search function, check out ford.com, do some research and make an independent decision.

Can't go wrong with either motor, but performance wise would nudge me toward the 3.5 eco. Just my $0.02.

A quick test drive and there is only one option. If you have to ask, you wont be happy with the smaller motor. It is plenty capable, but no comparison to the 3.5. Besides, I cant stand the engine shutoff feature.

I test drove both engines before getting the 3.5. Don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 2.7 but I tow some fairly heavy stuff. The 3.5 has a significant higher towing value and it just felt quicker to me.

Again had I not needed more towing power the 2.7's better fuel economy is very attractive.

I have had the 3.5 on my last 2 trucks and just ordered it on my new 2018. My advice is go with the 3.5. It has lots of power for your 5000 lbs and simply is an amazing motor and its fun too drive. You will not be disappointed!
