2018 limited ambient lighting when does it go on

Default 2018 limited ambient lighting when does it go on
I just picked up a limited 2018. When I open the door the ambient lighting goes on. When doors are shut the lighting goes off is that the way it works I thought at night it should say on

Check the ambient light settings in the center console screen. I believe it's off by default.

On my 2017, I have to pick a color and brightness in the ambient lighting section of the sync3 menu. It might be off by default?

There are no settings for the 2018. Should turn on at night.

no adjustments in the 2018's, it's on at night. Does the light in the cup holder light up?

Could it be the dimmer switch? I have not had a problem with mine.

Well that’s not it.
Mine are on in the doors and cup holder they are just very very low, in comparison to my 2013 Platinum.
They Dim down with the other interior lights when you turn the ignition on.
