2018 King Ranch Interior
#21
I have a 2016 KR. I LOVE the brown. That's EXACTLY why I bought it. The new light tan looks like an old Buick, and gets dirty too fast. Everyone who sees my interior agrees it is the shiznit.
If the pictures are accurate on the 2018 KR, I will not be getting one in 2018. That reddish camel interior looks like garbage. To me, King Ranch says rugged, ranch, country, worn, distressed, tough, etc. Even my brown leather says none of this with it's smooth constant colored perforated leather, but that new reddish color says Yuppie... here I am. Ah, the good old days when the leather showed its distress and scratches. Oh, wait. That was REAL leather.

Its a step in the right direction. The monotone chocolate brown of the 15-17's just didnt feel special, more like a slightly nicer Lariat with some KR badging.
I'm obviously biased (screen name), but the 09-14 Chaparral leather was hands down my favorite. Beautiful, rich, almost orange but not too "in your face", and it was different than anything else you could get from any truck maker at the time, it feels truly special when you climb inside of one.
I agree with an earlier poster, that the bi-tone seat inlays feel a little too much like a cross between the Platinum/Limited/KR, but I like it. If they had done up the steering wheel to match it would be just about perfect.

That orange will keep me away from upgrading to an 18. No way. That is just awful looking and will be a real hard private resell. Also I could see dealers saying "people just don't want those orange seats" when you go and try to trade in that 18 down the road, and will offer you a real lowball trade in price.

Maybe it might appeal to the UT fans with the burnt orange looking color.

The problem I have with the current KR is that literally everything is brown which is overpowering to me, and the dash plastic is the same stuff that comes on the Lariat whereas the Platinum has brushed aluminum everywhere. I like the new interior, it breaks it up a little bit. I just wish they'd go a little more upscale with the materials like the Limited and Platinum, especially considering it's the same money as those two.

I bought my '17 Platinum, with "maroon" seats, because I couldn't stand having splashes of orange on a $63,000+ vehicle. No way would I buy something with completely orange seats!

I agree with you about the brushed aluminum trim, that would have been a nice touch in the KR (or something differentiating it from the Lariat). That being said, it is upscale in the actual leather - it's a much higher quality than that in any of the other trucks. That's one thing I've always liked about the KRs and what's made them seem like a good value to me.
Excited to see a new one in person. I think the new design is pretty cool. I would rather them have changed it than keep leaving it the same. I'm sure it will grow on some of us..
Looking forward to see the new navy pier blue in the other trim as well

Love my 2016 KR interior, but the new 2018 seat color is just butt-ugly. Period. IMHO.
