2018 Ford F-150 clicking noise release gas pedal
So I just purchased a brand new 2018 F-150 xlt sport with the 5.0 L/V8 and new 10 speed transmission. So far I am disappointed with the truck. The main issue is a loud clicking noise when I release the gas pedal. This noise can only be simulated while the truck is being driven. I have had it into the dealership 3 times now and I only have 7500 KMs on the truck!!
Here is the link where I attached my GoPro under the hood while driving to record the noise
The dealership admits the is an unusual sound when releasing the pedal but so far have guessed at the solution and failed both times. I’m so mad lol
This is what the dealership has already replaced on my transmission:
1st time at dealer: replaced all 4 VCT phasers on my transmission. TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED - but DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM
2nd time at dealer: replaced all 4 of VCT solenoids. Said the restarted and “all okay now” lol. Drove it off the dealership property and immediately heard the noise again.
The next step from the dealership is an appointment with their “noise specialist”. I really have no faith in them at this point
Any help is appreciated thanks!

I'm curious why they did not replace the timing gear when they pulled the phasers. That rattle is consistent with chains hitting the guides. Also, the tensioners on the upper chains on 5.0 are oil pressure controlled. When more oil pressure is applied, the tensioner rises due to the hydraulic pressure...when you let off the gas, if the oil is low or pressure is out of spec, they will recede...causing the chain to rattle as the engines rotation pulls the slack out. I'd place my best on the upper chains. The actuators themselves are not variable with respect to the chain (what a nightmare that would be), only the cam...so I think it's safe to rule out VCT with that noise.
Another possibility is that it's actually the throttle plate closing. I noticed on another Ford that when the throttle plate was closing, either due to a noisy signal or faulty servo, the plate would actually shudder as it was closing. It made a similar, click-like noise.

You must of not have searched very much. This sound is clearly the off throttle rattle that many people have had issues with in the newer trucks, both 5.0L and 3.5L Eco. Two days ago, Ford released a TSB for this. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2018-...2354-a-432813/
Also, if you want something to do for today, read this thread. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/17-3-...rattle-401441/

Same noise here with 2018. Actually a few noises from engine bay with the whining and whistling. Man I love this truck but the noises after 800 Miles is driving me nuts

I have this exact same noise on an 18’ 3.5L
i only hear it when creeping in first and letting off the gas for a second though. It’s accentuated by the fact I park in a parking garage and it reverberates off the walls.
you can’t miss it. Is there a different TSB for the 3.5L?

Just dropped my car off at the dealership and they want to keep their. I'm in Clearwater FL.
- Clicking sound on release of gas
- Oil consumption
- Slamming into gear from P to D.
4600 miles. had first oil change to full synthetic at dealership at 4400 and it is already at the very bottom of the dipstick.
2018 F150 Lariat 5.0 purchased in Nov 2018.
