UHM anyone verify the cost different for US buyers. I keep seeing different numbers go by but I thought it was going to be something like 3700 or so.
On those prices for MX at a dealer - seems rather reasonable. Key thing - AT THE DEALER. Do a full syn oil change on your 2.7L ecoboost at the dealer and I think they wanted 65 for it.
That fuel filter thing - supposedly very easy to do yourself and the filter is the bulk of the cost. Also interval is something like once a year or 25K miles IIRC.
DEF doesn't hardly cost anything - on a per mile use basis.
OH and the life time fuel filter on your gas truck is not lifetime of the truck - complete misnomer in use. It's lifetime of the fuel pump - at some point if you replace the fuel pump on your F150 you will be expected to replace the filter - as it's part of the pump assembly. But whatever.

Well sparkplugs are lifetime. They last as long as their lifetime. :p As with anything, unless it states lifetime warranty, meaning it will be replaced for as long as the device, item, car, whatever it is attached to is still working, the lifetime is usually the lifetime of the part itself, which could be forever, or next week. The filter thing is a given, last as long as you don't have to crack the tank.

Never.
Owning a diesel these days is a chore and the net benefits are completely distorted by the higher cost of maintenance and repair..
If diesels were not so handicapped from a regulatory standpoint they would likely be one of the most popular platforms going..
I had 3 diesels.. After shelling out thousands to get a CEL light off to pass emissions...I'm over it.

I was very tempted to bite the bullet and dump my 16 for a 2002 F350 7.3 Powerstroke with only 64K on it, but it is a 16 YO truck now. It would be the only non Def diesel I would buy, since the 6.0 and 6.4 were junk.

honestly if I needed a used diesel HD device - I know it won't be popular here but I'd have already bought a Chevy Duramax.
I'm curious as to the recommended fuel filter work on this device - anyone have that from the manual? The whole Idea there is to protect the pump and injectors which oddly enough is a big deal for all the ford engines now. But the bigger bit is diesel is thicker and the potential for extra stuff in there is a bit higher. But I wonder if it's really necessary - especially in America and Canada. We have very clean fuel compared to the rest of the world. Just a thought.

The issue isn't so much dirt, but water. The fuel filter I believe is also the water separator. In the SD trucks the filter/WS is in front of that tank and I believe a one piece unit. Water will destroy a pump and injectors.

OTOH, oil changes for diesels are always pricey, can you do it yourself and have the satisfaction that one of the monkey's at the dealer didn't screw it up?

Why they will offer it is simple. GM and Ram will be offering diesels and you think Ford is not coming to the party? The 9,400 price is to discourage people from buying it just like the super cheap price for the 2.7EB pushes people towards it.

Diesel in the US is NOT a $9,000 option.
Its a $3,000 option in a lariat (502a is what I looked at) over the 5.0, and $2,400 more than the 3.5 eco which is a $600 option
