I got $12K off MSRP brand new from the lot back in August. Rebates are what kills resale value for the most part.

Sticker was about 47k new, (with discounts 45k). With tax and license it would have been about 50k new (or more depending on interest rate on the loan).

Got a loan from the local credit union @ 2.8% (with 50% down) and it was considered a new car loan because it had under 10k miles on it and was the same year I purchased it (12/2018, truck was originally sold 12/2017).The dealer tried to hit me with 6% interest rate with 18k down payment and 830 credit score. So I saved roughly 15k buying it used with 6500 miles on it. I basically got the truck minus the depreciation of driving off the lot. The Ford finance guy showed me that they only made $185 on the truck when I was filling out the paperwork
Oh Ya they only made $185?
Please cry me a river.
I got the same sob story from the sales manager when I bought my new 18.
These sales guys must have all went to the same school.
Even with the discounts every new truck sold has $10 000 profit between Ford and the dealer.
BTW nothing wrong with buying a lightly used one either.
I play the credit union vs Ford credit also.
Who ever has the best deal and the deals change weekly it seems.

MSRP is a total BS number(unless is was a first year raptor lol) and only there to make us think we saved a ton. That truck would've went for mid to high 30's at the beginning of the year and mid 30's for sure at the end of the year. Im not posting this to make you feel bad in anyway and if you're happy thats all that matters. Im just posting to let people know that its not always the best deal because the price is lower. Dealers are the biggest snakes out there and i would literally laugh in the dealers face if they wanted to use the line that they made next to nothing on me. Enjoy the truck!

Ya, they tried to take me for everything they could ($3000 extended warranty and a couple of points on the FMC loan), so I walked out. Waited 3 days, called the internet sales guy and cut the stupid original sales guys out of the deal.

You think that's a big hit, try a Mustang GT, it looses a boatload pretty quick.

I don't know if this is always true but when I was shopping leftover 2016s in January 2017 the XLTs had (especially if with a 2.7 IIRC) WAYYYY bigger rebates that Lariats/Platinums/etc. Thousands of dollars more.

This is why leasing is so appealing to me.
Dealer has a 2 year 12000 lease on a 302a XLT for $350/mo with 0 down.

My Plat stickered for $59,915, got it under invoice for $52,500, invoice was 53,700. It was a special order, exactly what I wanted. It is now worth between $46 and $54K based on ones I found on Cars.com. If I wreck it, then I can expect to receive something in this range. I don't plan to sell it, so I don't care about resale.

So if I wanted to buy a used one, I would save, what, 2K-6K Would rather buy new and have the full warranty and know that no one else had abused it.

Like riptide88 also stated in his post - this not to put your deal down but more of an eye opener for yourself and others lurking here. I've been assisting Buyers in this Forum through the 'Under Invoice thread and offline so Sales Gnomes can't find us communicating details of their deal while in negotiations. I've helped a lot of guys in the Orange County CA market so I'm posting the deal you could have negotiated if you took some time to be patient and work it. Here's what you could have bought that truck or obviously a similar NEW one for vs yours already having 6500 miles on it. I'm taking into account the Ford Standard Incentives at that time including the 2.7L EcoBoost ($300) and the $3,000 Private Cash Offer at that time that most everyone had. These are rebates have been included as well. As you can see, you should easily have been able to get this kind of deal for a NEW truck for just a few dollars more. A few Buyers from Orange County CA worked their deals a bit a harder and had to travel some to do even better with the True Dealiar Discount Percentage (TDDP).

I hope you've been enjoying your new F150 -
