2018 F150 commercial

It was put in to, game, get better gas mileage in a test with half the city portion done at idle. If you idle half the time, LA/DC rush hour traffic it's probably great. For the rest of us it amounts to such a small amount of gas saved it's worthless, IMO.
Edited to add: Honestly I expect the feds will disallow start stop in their tests as it is gaming the system.

And yeah, the conditions its used in are specific enough to make the wear insignificant.

I know it's backwards
Bottom line is that, on average, it increases your MPG by around 4 percent. Whether that's going to be worth it in the long run if components wear out earlier remains to be seen.

I don’t mind it at all in my truck. It’s nice to know I’m not wasting gas sitting around at customs multiple times a day. The only issue I have had is that sometimes it doesn’t start when I take my foot off the brake and waits until I’m pushing the gas. Not sure if it’s normal.

Like everything else in this World, you learn to adapt or you get left behind. My 2015 doesn't have it but my DD does and will honestly admit that it took a couple of weeks to adapt. Now it's part of the driving experience and glad to have the option as turning it off is just a push of the button.
I leave it active for the majority of the time.

I guess nobody took my original post in the context that I was thinking. I was trying to make the point that on the first 2018 F150 commercial that I've seen they were using start stop technology as a selling point.
