Edited to add: Honestly I expect the feds will disallow start stop in their tests as it is gaming the system.
Start/stop is actually there for real world economy. Its not used at all in the EPA cycle.

And yeah, the conditions its used in are specific enough to make the wear insignificant.

There are several conditions that won't allow stop/start to kick in. From battery voltage to cabin temp to seat belts. Also tow haul mode and sport mode it shouldn't engage.

2017 3.5EB it is disabled in sport but start/stop is enabled in tow/haul.

Exactly!! I'm getting tired of the posts that say it was to pad their EPA ratings.
Bottom line is that, on average, it increases your MPG by around 4 percent. Whether that's going to be worth it in the long run if components wear out earlier remains to be seen.

Hit the button if you don't like it.

I don’t mind it at all in my truck. It’s nice to know I’m not wasting gas sitting around at customs multiple times a day. The only issue I have had is that sometimes it doesn’t start when I take my foot off the brake and waits until I’m pushing the gas. Not sure if it’s normal.

Take it in..not normal, should start before the brake is fully released

Like everything else in this World, you learn to adapt or you get left behind. My 2015 doesn't have it but my DD does and will honestly admit that it took a couple of weeks to adapt. Now it's part of the driving experience and glad to have the option as turning it off is just a push of the button.

I leave it active for the majority of the time.

I guess nobody took my original post in the context that I was thinking. I was trying to make the point that on the first 2018 F150 commercial that I've seen they were using start stop technology as a selling point.
