I threw 300# of sand bags in, and it was an improvement, but my initial impression of these junk tires has gotten in my mind, so I do not trust them for much except on pavement.
It wasn't asked for, but I've got DuraTracs on my RWD LSD Ranger, with 300# in there as well. The Ranger does much better than the 150, unless of course, I throw the 150 in 4X4.
Can't wait for these junkers to wear out, and get some decent tires on there.
I went and got a quote of Falken Wildpeaks and Ko2's this weekend. Having trouble getting new tires with only 10k miles on the wrangler kevlars.

In addition to throwing weight in the bed i also make sure the fuel tank is full.
36 gallons of gasoline is a lot of extra weight.

I never ran my truck in winter with stock tires, but with duratracs it is a beast in anything except straight ice (what without studs isnt?)

I ironically have Hankook ATMs on my Jeep Commander and they are horrible in the snow, so bad that I havent driven it in weeks even though its my winter "beater".

I bet the price difference pretty much put you on the floor.

My plan for this winter is to use my Ranger, as always, and maybe next year get some decent winter tires on the 150.
This is my first winter of retirement, so unless I absolutely have to get out, I won't. Man, that feels good at subzero and dark both ways.
Besides, Ruby Red get's dirty pretty fast.

Besides the fact that there are no automobile companies that make tires (OEM), plenty of vehicles come with excellent tires from the factory.

OEM tires, meaning tires that come on new vehicles. Also, the tires the OEM's spec for vehicles are often dramatically different than what you or I would buy from a tire shop, hence OEM tires.

Other than Specialty vehicles, like the GT350's that have PSS, the Raptor's that have KO2's, very few vehicles have good tires from the factory.

I would buy new tires if we weren't taking two trips this spring. I also want to wait for the new General Grabber ATX tire to come out. Grabber AT2's on my 01 F150 2wd were amazing in the snow.

Anxious to see how the Michelin Primacy XC's that came on my truck, perform in snow. The outer edges look fairly aggressive - to give it that "Rugged Good Look" - lol
