2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with ambient lighting will only have a single color. The multi-color option, ability to dim and turn on/off are no longer available in 2018 model year. No repair attempts should be made to address the ability to enable color change, dim or turn on/off the ambient lighting feature

Thanks tmcolegr. It didn't take long for Ford to issue this SSM - I'd have to guess they've being hearing an outpouring from new owners who have raised this issue.

I personally love this feature on my 2016 Lariat. Very disappointing that Ford removed this.

As far as Forscan being able to re-enable, the hypothesis is that this is an actual hardware change in the lights themselves that no longer support RGB color options. For example, when opening the door, the ambient light no longer turns red but stays the lame ice blue.

Hopefully this hypothesis isn't true - Sounds like a few 2018 owners will be confirming soon.

What gets me isn’t that you can change the brightness. What a big step backwards.

This is pretty annoying. The last seven Ford vehicles we have owned had ambient. To purchase a 2018 Lariat and not have it is disappointing. One misses is a lot more than I would have thought.

Wife and I would change the light to match the mood or event we attended...

Not a deal breaker but might discuss this with the salesperson and see what he will give me in place of ford's shorting me an option he pointed out in the 2017 he was showing me before we decided to build a '18

They still have ambient lighting. You just can’t change it’s color.

I would give you Nothing!! what makes you think you deserve anything?--how is he supposed to know that wasn't a feature for 18--nobody here knew till they rolled off the line!! he knew it was on the 17 and told you about it----
