The thing is that the 2.7tt would put down silly dyno numbers stock, even matching the 3.5tt. It's like they went overboard on the tune. Since the 10- speed, the 2.7tt seems to have lost about 0.5 seconds 0-60, as if it was dialed back a bit.

I would like to see a dyno comparison of the older and newer 2.7tts

I agree with your first sentence in the last paragraph!!!I always read that turbo engines like a load to build boost!!!Now with the steep 1st gear ratio in the 10 speed there is less load then with the 6 speed in 1st gear!!!Now for anyone saying the 10 speed helped the 5.0 engine the most I would agree it helps it get into the higher rpms quicker where it makes it torque and horsepower!!!

This makes sense since it needs time to build boost. We really don't know if the 10-speed hurt the 3.5tt in acceleration since it had engine upgrades the same year.
It surely helped mpg, but I am thinking a gen 2 3.5tt with the 6-speed would have been even faster!

Have a 2016 2.7 now
the 5.0 with 3.73’s is the best you can get

All I know is my 2.7 with 3.73 gears is a beast off the line. In fact the boost comes in too quickly and overcomes the tires. Wheel hop and tire spin are my enemies right now!

Agreed. I think the 3.73 makes a world of a difference off the line, or even just being able to speed up quickly on a roll with just a little bit of gas without even downshifting.

I would say that's pretty it.

Our other car is a Lincoln MKC and it has the same 2.3 eco as the mustang yet it's pushing less HP and TQ.

I was surprised at how much difference there is between 3.73 and 3.55. I test drove two identical trucks, one with 3.73 and one with 3.55. I could really feel the difference in acceleration.

What were they? Ironically, not sure how familiar you are with gear changes, but there's ALWAYS a point where you've made it shift too much and you end up slower than you were with longer gears. I'd bet the difference between 3.55's and 3.73's is only in the 0-40 or 0-60 range that's only if not traction limited. Past those speeds i'd bet the 3.31 and 3.55 are faster than the 3.73.

Both were 2017 models with the 2.7, in XL trim, identical options. Off the line and at lower speeds acceleration was noticeable. I drove the one with 3.55 gears home, and the next day drove the 3.73 around for about 20 to 30 minutes and my son and I were surprised at the difference in get up and go.
