Actually its a 150lbs difference, grabbed the wrong weight off the chart, 5.0 was 5371

keep in mind weight only comes into play with the same weight driver(drivers can be 150 lbs different) and same driving ability. In other words, same driver, same launch, etc

100lb = a tenth is a rule of thumb. Unfortunately, rules of thumb rarely apply to all situations. Too many other variables.

As for those of you who are magazine racing, nothing is more comparable than testing done on the same day at the same location and with the same drivers. Still doesn't mean it is the be all, end all. Maybe they got a dog of a truck. Maybe someone else got a hot truck.

Personally, I just don't believe Car and Driver or Motor Trend. I love my 2017 2.7, but it is not a low 14 second truck.

Yup I can tell you right now my 15 XLT 3.5 EcoBoost SCREW was quicker than my 17 Platinum 3.5 EB SCREW. It's a heavier truck and it shows in the acceleration.

Why give the 5.0 an advantage. I would think the fairer test would be a 3:55 since that's what the other trucks had.

I think the bigger takeaway is that the 5.0 was competitive, and even faster in many areas, while using the 3.31 axle many claim to be atrociously slow.

These results aren’t all that surprising. The 3.5EB did well at low speed and gave up a lot of ground to the 5.0 once that coyote started revving. This trend is exactly what anyone would reasonably expect to happen. It’s a reflection of the powerband and where each motor shines.

Why would you expect this? Turbos pump out more boost pressure the faster they spin. That said this version of the 3.5EB is tuned for maximum torque at low RPMs for towing, not high peak numbers. How would the Ford GT work out for you? Same basic motor tuned differently. Why do people care about 1/4 mile times in a pickup? If you want fast 1/4 mile times purchase a Mustang. The wrong metric is being applied in this discussion.
